The Intern role provides students with the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and skills in a manufacturing environment, and to support/promote the graduate's career goals through interaction with engineering professionals. The Interns participate in professional activities for Volvo New River Valley Plant by working on practical, innovative, and important projects. This Internship provides structured learning experiences where Interns and our Business Managers work together on projects within their selected organization. The Internship allows students to integrate knowledge and skills in a manner that is mutually beneficial to the student and the Volvo New River Valley Plant.This role will start in August 2026 and run through December 2026 as a part time intern position with a target of no more than 30 hours per week.

Who are you?

Learning opportunities:The position will work with body and white and paint operations management team.  The position will help develop data collection processes and help optimize manufacturing practices. The position will give the student opportunities to learn and apply lean business management principles within the body and white and paint departments.The student needs to have strong MS Excel skills for data analysis and creating graphs.The student may need to create MS PowerPoint presentations, for communication of new project ideas and reports.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75 

Fall interns may work up to 30 hours per week

Applicants must be pursuing a Business Management degree or an undergraduate degree at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours prior to the start of the internship.

PowerBI experience / knowledge is a plus. Applicants should have a working knowledge of MS Excel.

For all intern and co-op positions, the hourly range is set at $17.00 - $46.00. The hourly rate for these roles is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, academic classification, and degree seeking area of study. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
