About the Role

We are excited to offer an internship opportunity for a motivated and tech-savvy individual to join our Digitalization and IT team as a Fall 2025 Intern at Volvo Trucks North America located in the beautiful New River Valley. This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in the dynamic fields of digitalization and information technology. As an intern, you will have the chance to work closely with our IT professionals, contribute to meaningful projects, and gain insights into how technology drives our business forward.

 

The internship will begin August 18, 2025 and continue through December 12, 2025 and can work up to 30 hours/week on site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of digitalization initiatives across various departments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process optimization and automation using digital technologies.
  • Support the IT team in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware, software, and networking systems.
  • Contribute to data management tasks, including data cleansing, migration, and analysis.
  • Participate in system testing, troubleshooting, and issue resolution to ensure smooth operation of IT systems.
  • Assist in the evaluation and deployment of software applications, tools, and cloud services.
  • Aid in the creation and maintenance of technical documentation, user guides, and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate in team meetings, presenting findings, progress updates, and recommendations.
  • Contribute ideas and insights to enhance our digitalization strategy and technology roadmap.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Currently enrolled in college courses.
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.75.
  • Strong passion for technology, digitalization, and innovation.
  • Solid foundational knowledge of IT concepts, including hardware, software, networking, and cybersecurity.
  • Familiarity with programming languages, databases, and cloud computing is a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute positively to group discussions.
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and take initiative.
  • Detail-oriented mindset and ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Previous relevant coursework, projects, or internships in IT or digitalization is a bonus.

For all intern and co-op positions, the hourly range is set at $16.00 - $46.00.The hourly rate for these roles is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, academic classification, and degree seeking area of study.
