What you will do

This internship role provides students with the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and skills in a customer-facing environment, and to support/promote the students career goals through interaction with product marketing professionals. Interns participate in professional activities for Volvo Trucks Customer Experience Center by working on practical, innovative and important projects. This internship provides structured learning experiences in both preparations and customer-facing tasks. The internship allows students to integrate knowledge and skills in a manner that is mutually beneficial to the student and Volvo Trucks Customer Experience Center. 

 

The student will be involved in managing the Customer Center event planning. This will include graphic design work with customer logos, planning and supporting logistics of events, and hosting customer and internal events. Students will learn to manage the events with a hands-on approach as well as through the utilization of in-house as well as third party vendors.

 

The position will be required to perform a presentation as part of the internship to show the results of the assigned projects and benefits gained. This will be presented to upper-level management and gives the opportunity for the students to show their projects and interface with the management team.

 

Networking with professionals with the Volvo Group as well as other interns.

 

Gain experience in planning and execution of tasks both individually and in team environments.

Minimum Education and Program Requirements

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in academic courses and pursuing a degree in Marketing/ Communications, Graphic Design, Event Management, Hotel and Tourism Management, or a related field at an accredited school and must have completed 30 semester hours of undergraduate studies prior to the start of the internship.
  • Must be in good academic standing with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.75/4.0
  • Spring interns may work up to 30 hours per week.

Strong Interpersonal Skills: Must be comfortable working with a wide range of people – from high-level executives to vendors and attendees. This includes being a confident but pleasant negotiator, resolving conflicts, and maintaining a positive, professional demeanor.

 

Attention to Detail: Monitoring adherence to standards and actively checking for the final result of preparations and seamless operation as it is visible to the customer.

 

Communication: Clear, respectful, and effective communication is essential. Will need to convey ideas, instructions, and expectations, while being able to listen actively to understand stakeholders’ needs. Strong writing skills are also important for event documentation.

 

Flexibility: Performing a wide range of tasks, responding to changes in direction and priorities, and accepting new challenges, responsibilities, and assignments

 

Dependability/Reliability: Following through on commitments, producing timely work to promote a higher standard; pitching in to get the job done

 

Must have experience in Adobe applications, EXCEL, MS Word, Power Point and preference given to those with Power BI experience.

For all intern and co-op positions, the hourly range is set at $17.00 - $46.00. The hourly rate for these roles is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, academic classification, and degree seeking area of study.
