Position Description:
This intern role provides students with the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and skills in a professional environment and to support/promote the graduate's career goals through contact with professionals in their field of study. The intern experience enables students to participate in professional activities for Volvo Group by working on important and innovative projects. The internship allows students to integrate knowledge and skills in a manner that is mutually beneficial to the student and Volvo Group.
The Human Resources Intern will support the daily operations of the Human Resources department within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role provides hands-on experience in a variety of HR functions including recruiting, onboarding, employee engagement, compliance, training, and administrative support. The intern will gain exposure to labor relations, safety programs, time and attendance, and HR systems.
Responsibilities / Main Tasks / Targets
- Assist with onboarding and orientation of new hires
- Support recruiting efforts by screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and attending job fairs
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records (digital and paper-based)
- Help update HR policies, procedures, and training documents
- Participate in employee engagement initiatives and events
- Support time and attendance audits and reporting
- Assist with internal communications related to HR updates or events
- Help facilitate compliance training (safety, anti-harassment, etc.)
- Provide general administrative support to HR team (filing, data entry, preparing reports)
- Observe and support investigations, corrective actions, and other employee relations activities (as appropriate)
- Contribute to special projects and continuous improvement efforts
Skills and Responsibilities:
- Excellent communication skills, including writing, proofreading skills, and speaking.
- Ability to tailor communication style based on the platform and audience
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments
- Excellent interpersonal skills with high professionalism
- Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision
- Proficient using the latest versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Basic knowledge of Photoshop and/or Canva preferred, but not required
Minimum Education Requirements:
Applicants must be currently pursuing a business, marketing, or communication degree at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours prior to the start of the intern program. Minimum GPA of 2.75.

Work Environment:
- Mix of office and production floor environment
- May require wearing PPE while on the plant floor
- Must be able to walk/stand for portions of the shift when observing or assisting on the floor

For all intern and co-op positions, the hourly range is set at $16.00 - $46.00.The hourly rate for these roles is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, academic classification, and degree seeking area of study.
