What you will do

We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join our Body-in-White and Surface Treatment team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience in the early stages of vehicle production—where precision, efficiency, and innovation intersect.

As part of this team, you will support the development, optimization, and implementation of manufacturing processes for BIW assembly and surface treatment operations. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and production teams to contribute to projects that directly impact product quality, cost, and manufacturing performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support process development and validation activities for welding, joining, sealing, and paint operations.

  • Assist in the design, setup, and optimization of BIW manufacturing processes and equipment.

  • Participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving for production issues.

  • Collect and analyze production data to drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and efficiency.

  • Help implement lean manufacturing principles and process standardization.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, quality, production, and maintenance.

  • Contribute to documentation of processes, tooling, and work instructions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

  • Strong interest in automotive manufacturing, welding technologies, and surface treatment processes (e.g., e-coating, painting, sealing).

  • Knowledge of CAD software (e.g., CATIA, NX, SolidWorks) and familiarity with PLM systems is a plus.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). PowerBI is also a plus.

  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

  • Self-driven and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.

For all intern and co-op positions, the hourly range is set at $16.00 - $46.00.The hourly rate for these roles is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, academic classification, and degree seeking area of study.
