What you will do
The internship role provides students with the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and skills in a manufacturing environment, and to support/promote the graduate's career goals through interaction with engineering professionals. Interns participate in professional activities for Volvo New River Valley Plant by working on practical, innovative and important projects. This Internship provides structured learning experiences where interns and our Engineering professionals work together on projects within their selected organization. The internship allows students to integrate knowledge and skills in a manner that is mutually beneficial to the student and Volvo New River Valley Plant.
The purpose of this position is to provide engineering support to the Quality department and to provide learning opportunities for Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and other engineering or IT related fields.
The position requires a candidate that has a continuous improvement mind set and enjoys working on problem solving.
Essential Skills & Experience:
The student will be involved in data collection, data cleaning, and advanced data analysis to support quality improvement initiatives within the organization. The position will give the student opportunities to design and build interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI, enabling the Quality team and management to make data-driven decisions. The intern will develop custom business applications with Power Apps to streamline data entry, workflow, and reporting processes, enhancing operational efficiency. The position will require the intern to automate routine tasks and reporting using Power Automate, allowing for improved accuracy and time savings. The intern will present data insights, dashboards, and recommendations to upper-level management, providing the opportunity to communicate technical information to diverse audiences. Networking with professionals at the plant and other interns will offer exposure to best practices in data analytics and digital transformation. The position will provide experience in planning and execution of data projects both individually and in team environments. Create PowerPoint presentations for communication of new project ideas, data findings, and progress reports.

Who are you?
- Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75
- Must be enrolled and pursuing a degree in an Engineering program or other technical degree and have completed 30 semester hours of undergraduate studies prior to the start of the internship.
- Spring interns may work up to 30 hours per week.
