Purpose of the Role: The Transport Controller is responsible for controlling of incoming & outgoing shipments; with the customers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, shipping companies, ship agents, customs personnel, warehouses, truckers, and up to receiving of delivery and must provide the client with the best overall service levels, meet & exceed established goals for on-time pick-up and delivery with proactive approach. The role requires knowledge of logistics Transport coordination & control.

 

Reporting: This position reports to Transport Operations Director.

Job Summary

 

  • Manage and control material transport flows from domestic and international suppliers to plants.
  • Receive, analyse, process, and accurately document information.
  • Evaluate information to ensure compliance with required standards and regulations.
  • Act as a key logistics partner to stakeholders by delivering built-in-quality logistics solutions.
  • Perform effective deviation management and transform into excellence in Operations.

 

Job Objectives:

 

  • Coordinate with Trucks Technology & industrial Division Logistics-approved liners, forwarders, transporters, customs brokers, overseas offices, and customers for Sea, Air, and Road freight movements.
  • Maintain close coordination with internal and external customers to meet daily operational requirements.
  • Monitor end-to-end logistics activities, including transportation, customs clearance, freight, and final delivery.
  • Maintaining KPI’s – Formalize, Record and Maintain KPI for customers
  • Facilitate structured meetings with customers and logistics service providers (LSPs).
  • Collaborate with customers, internal teams, and third parties to ensure operations run smoothly and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain clear communication and control throughout all shipment stages, including Management reports.
  • Proactively work with transportation & shipping teams to identify shipments at risk of not meeting delivery expectations based on mode, service level, miles and equipment type.
  • Stay up to date with relevant legislation, geopolitical developments, and other factors impacting freight movement.
  • Follow escalation protocols for deviation reporting to Material Controllers.
  • Ensure correct utilisation of support systems such as ATLAS, XTR, A4D, and other transport management platforms.
  • Participate in daily operational meetings, VPS (Volvo Performance System), and 5S activities.
  • Monitor and control pre-carriage, main freight, and on-carriage activities, including cost management.
  • Manage communication with overseas Volvo plants, suppliers, and customers for import and export flows.

Qualification & Experience:

 

  • University or college qualification required.
  • 5–8 years’ experience in Foreign Trade and Transport Logistics, with strong problem-solving capabilities within tight deadlines.
  • Experience in performance analysis of Logistics Service Providers (LSPs).
