Who are you?
Ideally, we are looking for an engineer with a background in mechanical, combustion engine, or compliance engineering, preferably with prior experience in engine certification or compliance within the off-road or automotive sector.
As a person, you are goal-oriented, proactive, and communicative. You excel at problem-solving, follow-up, and enjoy working on diverse tasks. You thrive in collaborative environments, sharing knowledge with colleagues across teams and networks.
We imagine that you have:
- Knowledge in mechanical, electrical, or combustion engine engineering.
- Experience with regulatory requirements or design in the off-road or automotive industry.
- An analytical and structured approach to work, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills, able to explain processes and requirements to diverse teams.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships across stakeholders and partnerships.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken to effectively work in a multicultural environment.
Role Summary
As a Compliance & Certification Engineer at Volvo CE, you will play a key role in ensuring our engines comply with national and international regulatory requirements across multiple markets. You will monitor evolving emission standards, plan and participate in engine development projects to ensure certification readiness, and act as the primary interface with regulatory authorities.
Working closely with calibration engineers and the rig testing team, you will ensure that all tests are completed accurately and that data is properly documented for certification purposes. You will also take full ownership of the certification process, preparing and issuing technical statements and documentation to complete certification and type approval processes.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Monitor and interpret legal and regulatory requirements in your assigned markets.
- Serve as the primary interface with regulatory authorities and regional experts for the assigned market.
- Plan and participate in engine development projects to ensure certification readiness.
- Analyze upcoming product changes and ensure all necessary certification activities are addressed.
- Contribute to overall compliance activities, including prototypes, defect reporting, COP, labeling, and related tasks.
- Collaborate closely with calibration engineers and rig testing teams to ensure tests are completed and data is accurately documented for certification purposes.
- Take ownership of the certification process, including preparation, review, and management of all required documentation and certification applications.
- Drive process improvements and foster effective collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
