Eskilstuna, SE, 405 08
Transport is at the core of modern society. Imagine using your expertise to shape sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions for the future. If you seek to make a difference on a global scale, working with next-gen technologies and the sharpest collaborative teams, then we could be a perfect match.
Build what matters. Keep people safe doing it.
Our industry is transforming fast. Electrification, automation, digitalization, and new customer expectations are reshaping how the world builds. At Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE), Health & Safety is not a compliance function; it’s a strategic capability that enables our people, our operations, and our customers to thrive safely and sustainably.
Our ambition is clear: everyone should return home safe, every day.
Volvo CE is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of premium construction equipment and solutions, with more than 13,000 employees worldwide. Headquartered in Eskilstuna, Sweden, we operate with a truly global footprint, with products and services offered in over 140 countries and production facilities across Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
We help our customers build the world we want to live in by delivering solutions that combine strong performance with a more sustainable way of working. Guided by core values of safety, environmental care, and respect for people, we believe that positive change happens through the actions and ideas of our employees and partners worldwide. At Volvo CE, this is captured in our 100% SAFE ambition – a shared commitment to safe behaviors, safe conditions, and strong leadership accountability across all operations.
We’re looking for a progressive, humancentric, and business savvy Head of Health & Safety to lead our global agenda, elevating performance, embedding a proactive safety culture, and shaping the systems and leadership behaviors that prevent harm and unlock excellence across Volvo CE.
About the role
In this role, you will sit at the center of Volvo CE’s transformation, partnering with executive leaders and teams across the globe to shape and activate a world class Health & Safety strategy – one that protects lives, strengthens performance, and supports our 2030 ambitions.
You will be a key driver in realizing our 100% SAFE ambition, ensuring that risks are clearly understood, critical activities are consistently controlled, and that the same high standard applies everywhere we operate.
You will lead the global agenda by steering our Health & Safety performance plan and continuous improvement roadmap, translating strategic direction into clear expectations and measurable outcomes delivered through our global H&S community. You will own the global risk profile and priority risks, securing strong governance aligned with the Volvo Group framework and ensuring the competence, analytics, and follow-up needed to elevate performance across all regions and sites.
You will set the direction for Health & Safety standards worldwide, defining guidelines, critical risk programs, KPIs and dashboards that enable prevention and accountability. By strengthening leadership accountability and safety ownership at all levels, you will help embed safe behaviors and safe conditions as a natural part of how we operate and lead.
Your work will focus on serious injury and fatality prevention, mental health and wellbeing, ergonomics, data-driven risk mitigation, and audit-ready compliance. By empowering leaders, specialists, and business networks around the world, you will help create a workplace where people feel safe, supported, and able to perform at their best.
This ambition will guide our decisions, strengthen our culture, and define how we manage and control the risks linked to our activities.
Who are you?
A senior, self-aware leader with a strong inner compass, integrity, and the courage to act. You build trust quickly, communicate with clarity, and collaborate inclusively across cultures and time zones. You are forward-looking, believe in meaningful change, and move with ease between strategic discussions and operational matters that create meaning, engaging people at all levels of the organization.
Experience & capabilities
- Extensive senior leadership experience in Health & Safety in a global setting, steering strategy, systems, and culture at scale.
- Depth across workplace safety, psychosocial health, and ergonomics.
- Excellent influencer and communicator in English; able to coach leaders and energize networks.
- Degree in a relevant field (e.g. Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Behavioral Science) or equivalent experience.
