Thesis Work - Developing a Training Approach for Data-Driven Production
Eskilstuna, SE, 405 08
Transport is at the core of modern society. Imagine using your expertise to shape sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions for the future. If you seek to make a difference on a global scale, working with next-gen technologies and the sharpest collaborative teams, then we could be a perfect match.
Background
As production becomes increasingly digitalized and data-driven, operators and other end-users need the right knowledge and support to use data and digital solutions effectively. This requires more than technical solutions; it also requires a clear approach for how competence should be developed. Volvo CE therefore wants to develop a structured approach for training end-users in data-driven production, including what should be taught, how training should be delivered, who should be responsible for educating end-users, and how training can be adapted to different use cases and technologies.
Thesis Scope & Deliverables
The thesis will focus on developing and evaluating an approach for training end-users, such as operators, in data-driven production. Key activities include:
- Identifying what end-users need to learn and the roles and responsibilities for providing the training.
- Identifying suitable ways of delivering training for different end-users, use cases, and production contexts.
- Developing a structured method or guideline for creating training videos and other learning materials.
- Applying and evaluating the approach through selected Volvo CE use cases across different sites.
- Developing a training structure that combines different learning activities to support competence development related to data and digital solutions in production.
- Providing recommendations for how the training approach can be reused and adapted for future digitalization initiatives.
Suitable Background
- Information design
- Industrial engineering and management
- Production development
- Learning and competence development
- Other relevant backgrounds combining communication, technology, and production
The thesis is particularly suitable for students interested in the intersection between people, digitalization, communication, and industrial production. Students from different academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply, and candidates may be matched in complementary pairs so that different competencies can be combined across individual theses rather than required within a single student.
