Background
Are you ready to take on a real-world challenge that directly impacts business strategy?
We have a long-standing project in the strategy team dedicated to analyzing the competitive landscape at global level, with the aim of understanding our position and uncovering threats and opportunities in the market. Building on this foundation, we are now seeking to drive changes by developing a new, innovative solution. This thesis project offers a unique opportunity to critically review the existing setup, identify outdated or inefficient components, and design a solution that helps to streamline processes, reduce manual workloads and bring additional business values.


Project Summary
To define, develop, and implement an interactive solution for calculating the competitors’ performance (market share). The project involves integrating diverse data sources (internal and external) from various formats, applying complex business rules and calculations and delivering actionable insights. The final result will be connected to Power BI, enabling dynamic visualization and annual trend analysis.


Key Deliverables
•    Automated Data Processing: Develop tools for automated data extraction from various sources, and to clean, validate, and preprocess data, ensuring high-quality inputs for analysis.
•    Calculation Module: Develop a flexible calculation engine that allows for easy maintenance and integration of new datasets.
•    User Guide & Instructions: Provide clear documentation for updating and uploading data, ensuring a smooth handoff and ongoing usability.
•    Annual Insights: Enable effortless yearly updates, unlocking year-over-year comparisons and market trend analysis.
•    Power BI Integration: Deliver compelling visualizations to support strategic decision-making across Volvo CE.

Who Should Apply?
We are looking for passionate students with backgrounds or strong interests in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Intelligence, Applied Statistics, or Industrial Engineering. If you combine technical expertise with a business-oriented mindset, you’ll thrive in this role. Communication will mainly take place in English.
Number of students participating could be one person or a team of two persons.
Preferred location: Eskilstuna
