Planner/Dispatcher Professional-2nd Shift

What you will do

 

The Planner/Dispatcher is responsible for scheduling our customers loads through the Autonomous Hub-to-Hub pipeline.  The planner matches an AV tractor with a loaded trailer and creates a schedule to include the Origin Hub departure time and the Destination Hub arrival time.  The Destination Hub arrival time schedule will be based on allowing enough time for a drayage carrier to pick up the load from the Destination Hub and deliver the shipment to the consignee within the time window defined as “on-time” by our customer. The Planner/ Dispatcher will work in a second shift capacity with the hours of 3pm- 12am,  Monday- Friday. 

 

Core Responsibilities:

•   Creates plans that provides 100% on-time delivery service for our customers while maximizing the revenue generation of the VAS AV tractor fleet.
•   Monitors the VAS TMS for Load Tenders from our customers, and while the load is In-transit to the destination hub. 
•   Navigates the VAS TMS system to know when an AV will be available for it’s next assignment.
•   Manages weather forecasting tools to forecast weather conditions in all geographical locations of the Origin Hub-to-Destination Hub pipeline.   
•   Has a strong understanding of the AV weather related dispatch restrictions
•   Accepts loads if there is an AV available and the virtual Driver provider confirms ODD conditions are within acceptable Autonomous driving limits.
•   Contacts customer for rescheduling loads if there is not an available AV or if the weather is outside of acceptable Autonomous driving limits.
•   Accepts the load based on new customer schedules or ”Reject” the load tender based on customer inability to reschedule the load, updates VAS TMS and/or confirm that TMS functions have properly updated.
•   Responds to schedule change request from Aurora or VAS dispatcher.
•   Works with customer to reschedule the load if changes are required due to unplanned mechanical issues or weather concerns, communicate changes to our customer team, VAS operations team and Aurora team.
•   Plans return loads from the Destination Hub for the AV based at the Origin Hub

  • Customer Focus – Must be able to understand the viewpoint of the customer, how the service affects their business and their needs
  • Strong logistics scheduling skills will be required to create optimized plans for 2 or more Hub locations utilizing multiple tractors
  • Agile Learner – Must be able to adapt quickly and learn new topics on the fly
  • Futuristic – Must be able to think beyond the here and now and what the product currently is to what it can become. 
  • Interpersonal Influence – Must be able to develop an excellent cross-functional network across different organizations, understand the functioning of the organizations to achieve the objectives
  • Strong knowledge of Transportation Management Software especially the planning and optimization tools found in the TMS. 
  • 3 - 5 years’ experience planning schedules for a trucking company
  • Proven experience of working in a dynamic environment and breaking down barriers to improve interactions and efficiency

For this position, the base pay is set at $63,100.00 - $77,900.00 annually, and where applicable, bonus eligible.  The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience.
