Senior Expert Business Controller

Location:

Fort Worth, TX, US, 76104

Position Type:  Professional

Transport is at the core of modern society. Imagine using your expertise to shape sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions for the future. If you seek to make a difference on a global scale, working with next-gen technologies and the sharpest collaborative teams, then we could be a perfect match.

About us

We are a newly formed, wholly owned subsidiary of Volvo Autonomous Solutions NA, created to transform the future of freight through autonomous trucking technology and transportation eco-system. Our ecosystem delivers seamless, integrated transport solutions designed to our customers’ needs and enables accelerated adoption of autonomous transportation. Headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, we are now recruiting for a Senior Accounting & Business Controller to join our team. This role will report directly to the CFO and is a rare opportunity to build the financial engine of a fast-growing autonomous transport company from the ground up.

As our Senior Accounting & Business Controller, you’ll shape the way money moves through the business—how we report it, manage it, forecast it, and use it to make sharper decisions. You’ll bring a strong accounting foundation, a business-first mindset, and the independence to take projects from concept to execution. You’ll lead the implementation of our outsourced Finance-as-a-Service model, partner closely with operations and leadership, and make sure our financial infrastructure is scalable, accurate, and built for growth.

If you love building, improving, and seeing your work directly drive performance—this role is for you.

What you will do

Build a strong accounting foundation and own the full accounting cycle—month-end close, reconciliations, and financial statements—ensuring everything is accurate, timely, and grounded in solid controls.

Turn financials into actionable insights by analyzing results, surface trends, and helping leadership understand what the numbers really mean. Your dashboards and KPIs will power better decisions across operations and fleet.

Lead our Finance-as-a-Service (FaaS) implementation and drive the rollout of our third-party finance provider, defining workflows, validating outputs, and making sure the FaaS model delivers what the business needs at this stage.

Optimize our financial processes linked to FaaS processes and systems where you will take point on systems and related integrations, building clean processes and finding opportunities to automate and streamline and ensure robust internal processes to validate and optimize the relationship.

Protect and advance the business through compliance, maintaining strong controls, and building the models, forecasts, and insights that support smart planning and sustainable growth.

Who are you?

You have strong values and are excited about a challenge with a deep and broad responsibility.  You’re a strategic, hands-on finance leader who thrives in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments. You understand accounting deeply, but you’re just as passionate about helping the business see around corners and make smarter decisions. You bring a mix of analytical rigor, operational intuition, and the confidence to create structure where none exists.

You’re naturally curious, always looking for ways to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and add clarity. You communicate well, translate financial data into meaningful insights, and enjoy partnering with operations, fleet, and leadership teams. You’re independent, proactive, and comfortable owning big outcomes without needing constant direction.

You take pride in accuracy and follow-through, and you’re the kind of person who steps into ambiguity with confidence, builds order from complexity, and delivers results that raise the bar.

You bring a strong accounting foundation, sharp analytical instincts, and the confidence to own your work end to end. You’ve spent at least 7 years developing your expertise in accounting or controlling—ideally in transportation, logistics, or another operationally complex, asset-heavy environment. You are used to working in a start-up environment. You know GAAP and IFRS inside and out, can run a close independently, and thrive in fast-paced, high-growth settings.

You’re experienced leading external partners, managing a Finance-as-a-Service model, and balancing multiple priorities with clarity and calm. Independence, accountability, and execution are core strengths.

Experience with Sage Intacct, BlackLine, Bill and/or SAP is a plus, especially if you’ve helped implement or automate similar systems. Familiarity with fleet operations, route profitability, or transportation cost structures will stand out
