The importance of electromobility is growing every day and a key component within the electrified powertrain is the Energy Storage System (ESS). At our section, we are accountable for the lifecycle management of the ESS - from advanced engineering, throughout product development into the maintenance phase.

 

 

Responsibilities

As a Battery Cell Expert, you will be an integral part of the Battery Cell Technology team, which operates within an agile and approachable organization composed of passionate individuals. You will have the support of a diverse, friendly, and open-minded team that is always ready to assist you in managing tasks that you may not even imagine today. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing internal and external product development and research projects on battery cell development, including negotiations with cell manufacturers.
  • Initiating ideas for intellectual property (IP) and preparing invention reports and patents.
  • Driving key engineering decisions, developing ideas and project plans for future projects.
  • Supporting commercial teams with technical expertise and participating in supplier meetings as a subject matter expert.
  • Collaborating with internal engineering teams to define and ensure cell electrochemical, mechanical and safety performance requirements are met.
  • Designing tests to validate new cell designs and fault trace
  • Mentoring Cell Engineering talents and sharing knowledge and industrial understanding.

With your ability to think analytically combined with your deep technical understanding of lithium-ion battery cells you will excel in the role as an Expert. Since you will collaborate with different teams and stakeholders in the organization, your communication skills are important and enables you to explain your knowledge in an understandable way.

 

What you also bring:

  • MSc or PhD in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry or related field with a specialization on Electrochemistry.
  • Extensive industrial experience in battery cell development, preferably from an automotive lithium-ion battery cell supplier or an OEM battery cell development organization.
  • Experience in material selection, cell design, electrode fabrication, cell assembly, testing and failure mode analysis.
  • Competence in designing complex experiments and employing a Design of Experiments (DOE) approach to interpret and correlate experimental results with battery product performance.
  • A track record of innovations (Intellectual Property) in the field of Lithium-ion battery cells.

 

Project management expertise is an advantage.
