Thermal Management is a department within Vehicle Technology responsible for developing, delivering, and maintaining an optimized cab climate and vehicle cooling & heating systems for all types of propulsion installations to all truck brands within the Volvo Group. We are responsible for leading the work with strategies and advanced engineering globally. We are located at Gothenburg & Bangalore, and we have close cooperation with the sites in Greensboro and Lyon.
We are now looking for an experienced, self-driven System Engineer to strengthen our team, Cab Climate Product and Hardware team. Our team is responsible for the design and development of the complete Cab climate systems, covering all sites and truck brands (among more) within the Volvo Group.
Join the Thermal Management Sub Stream, within the Vehicle Motion and Thermal Management department. Embark on the journey to develop the future Volvo Group Thermal Management systems and functions.
What’s in it for you?
As a System Engineer for Cab Climate, you will work closely with the complete Thermal Management department and many other cross functional teams to lead the cab climate system solution.
You will lead, follow-up and deliver complex system concepts with major business impact according to agreed scope, budget, time plan and quality. You will be part of delivering both climate feature and functions and delivering scope for both new and old cab climate system concepts in all kinds of drivelines for all different kinds of truck markets all over the world.
Your key responsibilities in this role include:
- Lead the work for both functional and non-functional parts of the climate system in collaboration with SW and HW engineers
- Perform system FMEA, together with other system engineers, system architects, etc
- Writing, balancing and hand-over system requirements
- Contributing to concept selections for the Cab Climate system
- Act as stakeholders towards other sub-systems that impact the cab climate system
Who are you?
We are looking for a structured, positive and technology driven system engineer for our Cab Climate Product team within Thermal Management Technology stream. You will lead system concept development work for the entire Cab Climate system including managing the many interfaces towards both internal and external stakeholders. You will define and align the behavior, requirements and development/verification methods for the system together with performance and/or simulation engineers.
As a person, you can take your own initiatives and drive them forward with a business and customer mindset. You have excellent communication skills and are good at networking with people. You are also structured in your way of working as well as having a positive attitude and adapting to changing conditions. This role is rather new for Cab Climate, so you will be part of tailoring the role to suit both the technology area and the Thermal Management organisation.
To be successful in this role, we believe you have the following experience/background:
- M.Sc in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic engineering, or similar technical field of study or equivalent work experience
- In depth experience in relevant system areas e.g., Cab Climate / Heating / Cooling / Thermal Management in the automotive industry
- Knowledge of thermodynamics and heat transferring processes
- High skill in product development working process and product lifecycle from initial concepts to production and maintenance, both regarding HW and SW
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written
- Experience of refining and developing system requirements
- Experience in writing concept descriptions/tech reports
- Experience from testing/verification and/or simulation is a merit
- Drivers license C is a merit
