‘Data’ is a function within Volvo Digital & IT (a global function within the Volvo Group) with the goal of unlocking the power of data for the full Volvo Group to become a fully data-driven company! With Data, the core component of our transformation journey, we will, together with our data talents, make the Volvo Group 2030 vision happen. We will take care of all the aspects of data, how it is quality assured, documented, made available, prepared, and used through BI, Analytics, and Machine Learning. We have an ambitious transformation in front of us, with the implementation of the Data Layer in Azure and the reinforcement of Data Governance and Data Management in the full Group.
The ‘Data’ function is a large multi-cultural organization with 600+ employees and contractors located mainly in 7 countries - Sweden, Poland, India, Belgium, Brazil, USA, and France.
Your Role
As a Chapter Area Lead, you will have two key responsibilities:
- Data Architect Domain Expert
- Serve as a key contributor within a product team, working on functional and technical deliverables while tackling everyday business challenges.
- Stay ahead of industry trends, continuously updating your knowledge and sharing insights across the Group.
- Build strong internal and external networks, ensuring cross-functional collaboration is seamless and effective.
- People Leader & Competence Development
- Create an environment where Data Architects can grow their skills and expertise.
- Coach and mentor chapter members, fostering their professional development and attracting new talent.
- Lead by example, promoting best practices, tools, and methods that align with our evolving ways of working.
Your Impact
As part of the Data Architect Chapter Leadership Team, spanning five international locations, you will report to the Head of Chapter Data Architects and contribute to:
- Building and developing Data Architect competencies, attracting and nurturing top talent.
- Establishing a strong Data Architect community across Volvo Group to enhance knowledge sharing.
- Defining and refining working methods for Data Architects to ensure efficiency and innovation.
- Bringing in external insights and best practices to strengthen the chapter.
- Managing capacity planning and responding to new requests for Data Architects.
Who You Are
You are ready to take your career to the next level, collaborating with incredible people worldwide. To succeed in this position, you should have:
- A university degree or equivalent experience.
- Several years of hands-on experience as a Data Architect practitioner.
- A proven track record of leadership within line organizations or projects.
You are passionate about designing end-to-end scalable data solutions, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and industry standards.
- As a Data Architect and technical leader, you actively participate in and guide development efforts, leveraging the full capabilities of our cloud data platform, including data ingestion and replication, data lakes and warehouses, and advanced data consumption technologies such as AI/ML, analytics, reporting, visualization, and API data access.
- You excel at developing, documenting, and maintaining logical and physical data models, ensuring they reflect our evolving environment and meet business needs.
- You are a collaborative team player, working closely with internal teams including compliance, privacy, risk, security, support, and operations.
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and proactive problem solver who thrives in managing change and ambiguity. You effectively communicate data-driven solutions to stakeholders at all levels and have a strong passion for leading, inspiring, and developing people.

As part of being a leader we do expect you to be in the office in Gothenburg frequently but we do offer some flexibility with remote work as well.
