‘Data’ is a function within Volvo Digital & IT with the goal of unlocking the power of data for the full Volvo Group to become a fully data-driven company! With Data, the core component of our transformation journey, we will, together with our data talents, make the Volvo Group 2030 vision happen. We will take care of all the aspects of data, how it is quality assured, documented, made available, prepared, and used through BI, Analytics, and Machine Learning. We have an ambitious transformation in front of us, with the implementation of the Data Layer in Azure and the reinforcement of Data Governance and Data Management in the full Group.
The ‘Data’ function is a large multi-cultural organization with 600+ employees and contractors located mainly in 7 countries - Sweden, Poland, India, Belgium, Brazil, USA, and France.
Who are you?
We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Digital Product Owner (DPO) to lead the Data Structure & Modeling Stable Team within our Data Governance & Management function.
You will bring a strong blend of leadership, product and project management expertise, with a focus on collaboration and stakeholder engagement. Your hands-on experience in data governance (particularly in defining data, glossary management and data modeling at the enterprise level) and agile methodologies will be key to your success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize your strong leadership and project management skills to inspire and guide a team of experts and oversee complex deliveries.
- Oversee objectives, scope, and outcomes across multiple workstreams, fostering collaboration with various stakeholders, including other product teams, enterprise architecture, and leadership teams.
- Coordinate activities and delegate responsibilities effectively to ensure successful business outcomes.
- Establish clear, streamlined ways of working across teams, including support models and feedback mechanisms for enterprise-level glossaries and data models.
- Provide guidance and expertise where needed, helping to ensure efficient and timely delivery.
Your background
You are a senior professional with 7+ years of experience, specializing in product and project management. You excel at leading teams, overseeing complex project deliveries, and managing stakeholders across diverse groups. With a results-driven, action-oriented approach, you effectively balance high-level strategic discussions with day-to-day operations.
Hard Skills & Technical Expertise
- Project & Product Management: Strong expertise in Agile methodologies, service management, and release management.
- Tools & Frameworks: Proficient in Azure DevOps, ITSM/ITIL, and RACI models.
- Data & Governance: Deep understanding of data management, business data definitions, glossaries, and data modeling.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with databases, data warehouses, data processing, and distributed/federated work models.
- Stakeholder & Process Management: Experience structuring governance processes and collaborating across multiple teams.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in English (spoken and written) is essential.
Soft Skills & Leadership Qualities
- Leadership & Team Management: Skilled in leading cross-functional teams and fostering collaboration.
- Problem-Solving & Mindset: Positive, solution-oriented approach to challenges, ensuring a productive work environment.

This role requires a balance of in-office and remote work, with an expectation to be in the office three days a week.
