The position
We are looking for a Data Scientist to join the function Analytics, AI & Insights at Volvo Trucks Digital & IT. You will be part of a collaborative, dynamic, and diverse team where AI and data science are not just buzzwords. In this role, you will work hands-on with AI, applying it to real-world challenges and contributing to meaningful change.
As a data scientist in our team your main purpose is to create value from data. You will have the opportunity to solve real world problems with state-of-the-art Advanced Analytics, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Machine Learning, and Generative AI techniques. Since our team is supporting the whole organization there is a wide range of projects and data sources that you will encounter and work with. Since data without context is not meaningful it is important to have a curious mindset and willingness to learn more about the automative industry.
Effective communication in this position is crucial for translating methodology, findings and results to generate trust and understanding for stakeholders with different levels of technical knowledge. All this is necessary for change management and implementation AI solutions.

Your profile
We are looking for someone who enjoys problem-solving and has an interest and is eager to continuously learn in the rapidly evolving field of AI. You will have strong analytical knowledge and likely have a degree in computer science, statistics, engineering or any other related discipline. You regularly use programming as a tool for solving problems and have experience in at least one general-purpose programming language, preferably Python.
At Volvo Trucks, the data scientist role is wide. Therefore, we see that you have a good general understanding of skills that overlaps with the role of a data analyst and data engineering, for example data visualization, working with APIs and data modelling.
When it comes to experience, we consider it a plus if you have experience in MLOps and participating in the deployment and scaling of AI solutions on cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP. We also see it as a plus if you have good knowledge in Transformer Models and LLMs.
