About the Role
Are you passionate about shaping world-class developer experiences and driving product strategy for internal platforms? As a Digital Product Owner for the Internal Developer Portal, you will define and evolve the product vision for Volvo’s Internal Developer Platform (IDP).
The Internal Developer Portal serves as the front door to our engineering ecosystem—bringing together golden paths, DevSecOps automation, cloud services, AI-powered tooling, and platform capabilities into a unified experience for thousands of developers.
In this role, you will own the product strategy, roadmap, and value realization of the portal. You will work closely with platform engineering, DevSecOps, cloud, AI, and security teams to ensure we deliver a seamless, secure, and intelligent developer experience that accelerates software delivery and reduces cognitive load.

What You’ll Do
Define & Drive Product Vision
- Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Internal Developer Portal.
- Align portal capabilities with Volvo’s broader Internal Developer Platform strategy.
- Translate engineering needs, business priorities, and technical strategy into clear product outcomes.
- Prioritize initiatives that improve developer productivity, platform adoption, and standardization.
Lead Roadmap & Delivery
- Manage and maintain a transparent, outcome-driven backlog.
- Partner closely with engineering teams to refine requirements and define MVPs.
- Balance short-term delivery with long-term platform scalability and sustainability.
- Define and track KPIs such as adoption and developer satisfaction.
Champion Developer Experience
- Act as the voice of the developer across the organization.
- Gather feedback through user research, analytics, and stakeholder engagement.
- Ensure golden paths (CI/CD, IaC templates, security standards) are intuitive, discoverable, and frictionless.
- Drive improvements in usability, discoverability, and workflow integration.
Integrate AI & Intelligent Automation
- Shape the product direction for AI-powered capabilities within the portal, including:
- Contextual help and intelligent onboarding
- Knowledge discovery and documentation insights
- Service scaffolding and automation workflows
- Platform intelligence and recommendations
- Collaborate with AI and engineering teams to prioritize high-value use cases.
Governance, Security & Standardization
- Ensure secure-by-default practices are embedded into product requirements.
- Partner with security and compliance teams to align guardrails with developer workflows.
- Support standardization through templates, policies, and automated controls.
Stakeholder & Cross-Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with Golden Path, cloud platform, DevSecOps, and security teams to deliver cohesive experiences.
- Communicate product vision, progress, and outcomes to engineering leadership.
- Drive adoption through internal engagement, demos, and change management initiatives
What You’ll Bring
Product Leadership Experience
- Proven experience as a Digital Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar role in platform, DevOps, or engineering enablement domains.
- Experience owning internal platforms or developer-facing products.
- Strong ability to define measurable outcomes and translate strategy into actionable roadmaps.
Technical Understanding
- Solid understanding of:
- Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs)
- DevSecOps practices, CI/CD, GitOps, and cloud-native architectures
- Kubernetes and modern cloud environments (Azure preferred)
- Infrastructure as Code and automated provisioning
- Familiarity with developer portals and software catalogs in enterprise environments.
- Awareness of AI/LLM-powered tooling and how it can enhance developer workflows.
Data-Driven & Outcome-Oriented
- Experience defining and tracking product KPIs and adoption metrics.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to make data-informed prioritization decisions.
- Comfortable balancing technical complexity with business value.
Collaboration & Communication
- Strong stakeholder management skills across engineering, security, and leadership.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear product narratives.
- Empathy for developers and passion for improving their daily workflows
