At Volvo Buses, Service Market Technology (SMT) plays an essential role in supporting customer uptime and competitive lifecycle cost. We are now looking for a Director, Diagnostics & Workshop Services to help lead and further develop this area globally.

In this role, you will be a member of the Service Market Technology management team — a global team united by a common purpose and a culture built on respect, care, openness, and fun. Service Market Technology (SMT) is part of Global Bus Technology (GBT) within Volvo Buses. Our purpose is to maximize customer uptime and secure a competitive technical price by ensuring maintainability and creating leading service market solutions. We are located in Arendal, Gothenburg, with a fantastic view of the Gothenburg archipelago.

 

About the Role
As Director of Diagnostics & Workshop Services, you will lead a global function focused on developing future-ready diagnostics and workshop solutions. Together with your team and stakeholders, you will contribute to improving customer uptime and enabling more efficient, reliable service operations worldwide.

Your Contribution

In this role, you will:


•    Lead and support a global Diagnostics and Workshop Services organization and leadership team, fostering collaboration, ownership, and a winning culture. 
•    Define, develop and deliver service market solutions like diagnostics, Embedded SW deployment and predictive services
•    Ensure diagnosability and service readiness through early involvement in product development
•    Explore new workshop services supporting customer uptime
•    Accelerate digital transformation, using tools such as automation, simulation, and AI
•    As member of the SMT leadership team, contribute to the direction, culture, and ways of working 


You will work closely with colleagues across Volvo Group and help shape how we collaborate, innovate, and grow as a function.

Who You Are
You are a supportive and thoughtful leader who enjoys working through others and building strong relationships. You bring both technical understanding and business insight, and you feel comfortable navigating across teams and perspectives.

 

You bring:
•    5 or more years of experience in a people leading position

Excellent capabilities in developing teams in a collaborative environment
•    Ability to build trust and work effectively across organizational boundaries
•    Comprehensive understanding of diagnostics and embedded systems development
•    Clear communication skills and a high level of integrity
•    Strong interest in how AI, data analytics and automation can enable new ways of working and enable services

MSc in Engineering (or equivalent)
•    Minimum 5 years’ experience within aftermarket and/or product development in the automotive industry
•    Fluent in English
