The Mission

The Volvo Group Engineers are committed to develop 100% fossil free, 100% safe products. As a part of the Volvo Group digital transformation, we are developing the next generation tools to manage the product platform that aims to support the engineers on this challenging journey. We aim to reshape the user experience with much better assistance and help to automate both small and complex tasks.

What you will do

We are bit by bit transforming our monolith solution to a modern cloud native microservice architecture. Your work will be to lead and coach the team through the agile ceremonies and contribute to the product development as a Java Fullstack Software Engineer. The development is primarily done in the modern microservice architecture but there is sometimes a need for adjustments in classic/legacy software. You will also get the chance to explore business needs and from that knowledge define future solutions together with Product Owners, UX Designers, Solution Architects and Software Engineers.

We are one of four product teams developing and maintaining the core application within the product development at Volvo (KOLA) – the heart of Volvo product documentation. We are team members of different backgrounds, genders and experiences. We have open communication and always a helpful mindset. With us, you will take a key role in an agile team, striving to adopt DevSecOps manners.

 

The team is located in the office at Lindholmen, Gothenburg.

You bring strong communication, collaboration, and analytical skills, paired with a customer value-driven mindset. You are curious and motivated by exploration, using testing and learning to move ideas forward. You also apply critical thinking and sense-making to navigate complexity and solve challenging problems in a structured, thoughtful way. You are also fluent in English (both speaking and writing), and preferably Swedish as well.

 

We think you have: 

  • Expert skills in Java development (full stack), including asynchronous programmingmicroservice architecture, and cloud services
  • Expert skills in agile development, solid experience as Scrum Master or Agile Coach
  • Strong experience with integration technologies such as MQ and APIs
  • Experience applying AI or machine learning to real business problems, from problem framing to measurable outcomes
  • Proficiency in test automation frameworks and functional testing, including automated workflows using Azure and GitHub Actions
  • Solid knowledge of security standards and databases
  • Experience in business analyticsrequirements elicitation, and requirements managemen

 

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge about User Experience (UX) and Design Thinking
  • Experience in development of web applications with frontend technologies such as React, Angular and TypeScript
  • Knowledge in Mainframe & Cobol
