What’s in it for you?
As a Geometrical Architect, you will not only secure packaging of all systems levels within Thermal Management and perform complete pack geometry analysis of weight and dimensions. You are the key person to safeguard packaging space, lead concept studies and proactively, and systematically, map our way to new platforms.
You will lead regular packaging meetings and coordinate all packaging-related questions within Thermal Management. You will perform virtual packaging verification for different stakeholders. The role entails stakeholder management, balancing their needs, handling trade-off situations, tracking and raising issues with the project management team and obtaining decisions that will help the project move forward.
This is a senior role and truly cross-functional, you will collaborate widely within the department and across the company with attributes, design engineering, geometric architects, manufacturing, and program teams.
Key Responsibilities:
• Safeguard the platform by safeguarding packaging space and being active within discussion with vehicle engineering
• Safeguard packaging space for TM components.
• Leading the work of minimizing components within the platform, by design or by integration.
• Reducing complexity and number of components, still providing the same functionality and features for the customer.
• Propose and evaluate positioning of components, for example expansion tanks, where we typically are pushed around for a long time, without being able to get to a decision.
• Perform concept studies of component design, for example integrating valves and refrigerant module.
• Give input to component owners with regards to geometry, and installation, such as coolant/refrigerant port positions and electrical interface positions.
• Compile surrounding geometry for CFD (computational fluid dynamics) studies, and generate needed geometry, for example ducting between grille and cooling module
• Provide packaging/installation-support and mentorship to component owners throughout development phase
• Attend packaging meetings, transfer information between the meetings and component owners and system engineers/architects. Ensuring that no input is lacking.
Who are you?
We believe you are a curious, methodical engineer in the automotive industry. You are open-minded and enjoy teamwork. You are good at networking with other people; you like challenges and understand the value of having fun together at work.
In order to be successful in this role, we believe you have the following background and qualification:
• BSc or MSc in engineering, preferably in mechanical, automotive engineering or equivalent.
• Negotiation skills
• Experience as a Geometrical Architect, preferably with thermal related components.
• Thermodynamic and hydraulic knowledge
• Understanding of thermal management systems and different propulsion systems.
• Knowledge of the product development process within automotive required, Volvo DVP or similar is meritorious.
• Proficiency in CAD modeling and assembly, Creo is a plus.
• Knowledge of the Windchill/PDM link would be an asset.
• Good spoken as well as written English.
