What you will do


As a Global Component Responsible Brake Resistor you will be the responsible person towards suppliers and the Volvo engineering project teams. You will have a close cooperation with colleagues from electromobility and work cross functional with departments within Volvo Group Trucks Technology (GTT), purchasing, and other business areas within Volvo Group. You will also lead the supplier communication and development to secure their deliveries towards Volvo Group.

Your major responsibilities will be to:
 

•    Lead development and verification activities for brake resistor including software from concept to industrialization
•    Drive technical communication between suppliers and cross functional Volvo projects
•    Contribute to system design in early stages of new projects
•    Create and follow up technical requirements
•    Create and anchor time plans for component level
•    Support builds, testing, and fault tracing

 


Your future team


As part of the Motor Drive System SW and REDS team, you will collaborate with 11 highly skilled engineers from diverse backgrounds and expertise. Together, we develop applications for traction motors and electric brake systems used in fuel cell and battery-electric powertrains across the Volvo Group—including Volvo Trucks, Volvo Buses, Volvo Penta, and Volvo Construction Equipment. This puts you at the heart of Volvo Group’s innovation.
 

Who are you?


To succeed in this role, you will need a strong background in engineering and product development.

Specifically, you should have:

  • A Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a comparable field
  • At least five years of relevant work experience in product development of purchased hardware and software, preferably in high-voltage systems
  • Experience working with or at a supplier
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Fluency in English
  • The ability to take responsibility and drive tasks independently, as well as lead others indirectly
     

Additionally, experience with supplier-developed software processes and interfaces of inverter hardware is considered a plus.
