We are looking for a strategic system thinker to lead our Complete Propulsion System Architecture Group. This team sits at the core of Volvo Group Electromobility system engineering ecosystem responsible for system architecture initiative and system platform design at Volvo Group. The R&D resources for the three truck brands (Volvo Trucks, Renault Trucks, and Mack Trucks) as well as for other Volvo Group business units (Volvo Bus, Volvo Penta, Volvo Construction Equipment, Volvo Energy) are centralized into Volvo Group Trucks Technology. Volvo Group Trucks Technology provides state-of-the-art research, cutting-edge engineering, and product planning, as well as aftermarket product support.
The Electromobility organization is responsible for the complete development of the lifecycle of our electric powertrains – from advanced engineering through product development into the maintenance phase. The Complete System department is responsible for the complete Electromobility system development and verification. This is how you can make a difference:
You will lead the team that defines and delivers the full propulsion system architecture for our next-generation commercial vehicles and platforms. In this role, you’ll guide a world-class group of engineers responsible for the entire propulsion stack - electric machines, inverters, gearboxes, batteries, charging system, electric auxiliaries, cooling systems, and the complete system functions and controls - ensuring all components operate as one cohesive, high-performing system and provide the best productivity for our customers.
You won’t just manage—you’ll shape Volvo Group Electromobilities future platforms. You'll balance key parameters like performance, cost, weight, and efficiency while helping us push the boundaries of what's possible in zero-emissions technology. You’ll collaborate across mechanical, electrical, thermal and software domains, and work closely with vehicles, manufacturing, and executive leadership.

Together, we will continue to grow and build state-of-the-art technology. You will be part of the Complete Electric Propulsion System and Platform section management team and report directly to the Director for Complete Electric Propulsion System and Platform.
What to bring:
- Multiple years of experience in complete Electric Propulsion systems.
- Extensive experience within System design and technical governance for complex automotive systems.
- Electromobility and Energy Management system and architecture knowledge.
- Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering and tools (e.g. E-weaver)
- Extensive experience of leading platform development.
- Multiple years of experience of leading senior experts as a manager.
- Experience in leading technical leaders.
- Ability to take decisions based upon facts and engineering judgement as well as to effectively solve problems without getting stuck in details
- Excellent presentation skillsets of complex technical topics to higher management levels and stakeholders.
- Volvo Group or other experience from commercial vehicles.
- In addition, have a good overview of the Electromobility (architectural) trends.
- Demonstrated ability to balance a strategic, holistic end-to-end view with operational considerations.
- Engineering education, preferably a MSc.
