This is how you could make an impact

Even though we operate in a business-to-business environment, it is the people who make the difference. It is important that you are a trusted leader and that you radiate passion when developing your team and your business. You will lead a diverse team of eight buyers located in France and Sweden. We hope you love to actively contribute to your team members' development, both professionally and personally.

Beyond fostering strong team dynamics, it's equally important to establish and nurture trustworthy and healthy relationships with our supply partners to better support our business.

You will be part of the Base Engine leadership team, contributing to the development of the bigger department. Besides the European team, you will be part of the global network and lead strategic global purchasing activities.

What you will do

As Head of Engine Components Purchasing, you will:

  • Be responsible for the strategic leadership of your commodity globally, and for operational leadership of the business and team in Europe.
  • Drive activities that support business objectives across the full QDCF-TSR spectrum (quality, delivery, cost, feature, technology, sustainability & risk).
  • Build and maintain trustful and healthy relationships with supply partners, and actively engage in cross-functional ecosystems.
  • With a proactive and inclusive leadership style, you foster a collaborative team culture with shared objectives, high morale, and strong team spirit.
  • Contribute as a member of the Base Engine Purchasing Leadership team, playing a key role in developing the department and shaping the global strategic direction.
  • Work in accordance with Volvo’s processes, Code of Conduct, and Values.

Who are you?

  • We believe you are an inspiring and trusted leader who embraces diversity and genuinely cares about people.
  • You coach your organization, communicate effectively, and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • You are proactive and comfortable navigating ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
  • You demonstrate business acumen and strategic thinking.

Additionally, you will:

  • Influence continuous improvement and foster a learning culture.
  • Share ideas confidently, challenge the status quo, and drive transformation.
  • Collaborate across internal and external ecosystems to deliver business results.

We value an academic background in engineering, business, or a related field, along with purchasing experience in an international business environment with global suppliers.

Experience in managerial roles where you’ve demonstrated leadership and a willingness to learn is highly appreciated.
