Head of Risk Management and Supplier Financial risk, Volvo Group
Göteborg, SE, 417 15
Transport is at the core of modern society. In Trucks Technology & Industrial Division (TTI), we are shaping the next generation of sustainable transport and industrial solutions. We are now looking for a senior leader to build and lead an integrated risk management agenda across the division.
As Head of Risk Management and Supplier Financial Risk for TTI, you will take on a broad and influential leadership role, combining strategic oversight with operational impact. You will lead a team responsible for managing the supply chain resilience and financial risk across our global supplier base, ensuring early identification of vulnerabilities and driving decisive action in distressed situations. At the same time, you will hold overall responsibility for enterprise risk management and internal control within TTI.
Operating across purchasing, operations, and technology, you will play a key role in strengthening supply chain resilience, shaping risk-informed decision-making, and ensuring robust governance and crisis readiness. You will report to the Head of Reporting & Risk for TTI and work in close partnership with global functions, value chain owners, brands, and corporate risk stakeholders.
About the role
This is a leadership position where your ability to set direction, build trust, and drive alignment across a complex global organization will be critical. You will define and evolve TTI’s approach to risk management, ensuring it is forward-looking, business-integrated, and closely aligned with strategic priorities.
A central part of the role is overseeing supplier financial risk. You will ensure structured and proactive assessment of supplier financial health, guiding sourcing and re-sourcing decisions in close collaboration with purchasing, engineering, and operations. When critical situations arise, you will lead the handling of distressed suppliers, safeguarding continuity of supply while protecting Volvo Group’s financial and operational interests. This includes coordinating restructuring cases and acquisition, engaging with external stakeholders such as investors, lenders, and advisors.
In parallel, you will lead the supplier risk management agenda across TTI, including risk identification, prioritization, mitigation, and reporting. You will establish and maintain a strong governance framework, ensuring clarity in roles, decision forums, and escalation processes. Your work will enable informed trade-offs in key business decisions, from sourcing strategies to major investments and technology shifts.
You will also oversee the internal control framework, ensuring that effective controls are in place across purchasing, operations, and technology, and that these are continuously improved in line with Volvo Group standards and external requirements.
Who are you?
You bring extensive experience from risk management, corporate finance, restructuring, or a related field, ideally within an international industrial or automotive environment. You have a strong foundation in financial and credit analysis and a proven track record of working with complex, global supply chains.
In addition, you are an experienced leader who has successfully operated at a senior level, driving cross-functional initiatives and managing senior stakeholders. You combine strategic thinking with the ability to translate complex risks into clear, actionable insights, and you are comfortable leading in situations characterized by uncertainty and change.
You have:
- University degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Law or similar; an advanced degree is a plus.
- Extensive experience (10+ years) in risk management, business control, restructuring, corporate finance, or related fields, preferably in an international industrial or automotive context.
- Expert at corporate credit and risk analysis
- Proven track record in leading enterprise risk management, internal controls and/or supply chain risk management at senior level.
- Strong understanding of global supply chains, purchasing processes and technology / product development environments.
- Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information, quantify risks and drive actionable decisions.
Leadership capabilities
As Head of function, your leadership will be a defining factor for success. You will lead and develop a high-performing and diverse team with expertise spanning risk, finance, operations, and restructuring. Creating a strong, collaborative team culture—grounded in accountability, transparency, and continuous development—will be a key priority. Beyond your direct team, you will act as a senior leader and role model across TTI. You will engage and influence executive stakeholders, navigate complex and sometimes high-pressure situations, and drive alignment across functions and geographies. Your ability to communicate clearly, challenge constructively, and build credibility at all levels of the organization will be essential.
You will also play a central role in fostering a strong risk culture within TTI, ensuring that risk awareness is embedded in decision-making, that issues are escalated transparently, and that the organization continuously learns and improves.
What do we offer?
We offer a key leadership position at the heart of TTI’s risk and business control agenda, with direct impact on resilience, competitiveness, and strategic direction. This is a truly global role, providing exposure to senior leadership and Volvo Group stakeholders, and the opportunity to shape and implement a modern, integrated risk management framework in a newly formed division.
You will be part of a value-driven and inclusive culture where your leadership and expertise will contribute to driving the future of sustainable transport and industrial solutions.
