Master Thesis - Anomaly Detection of Logged Vehicle Data
Göteborg, SE, 417 15
Transport is at the core of modern society. Imagine using your expertise to shape sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions for the future. If you seek to make a difference on a global scale, working with next-gen technologies and the sharpest collaborative teams, then we could be a perfect match.
Thesis Background
A modern heavy-duty truck generates over a million lines of data logs each minute, corresponding to multiple gigabytes per minute. With such a vast amount of data, it is impossible for a human to analyze all of it and identify if a component is starting to degrade. However, by utilizing machine learning (ML), it is possible to predict component failures before they occur.
What you will do
The aim of this thesis is to develop a machine learning model that can predict if a component in a fuel cell electric truck is about to fail or has degraded. Multiple methods can be compared and tested to achieve the best results, or a new model can be proposed.
If time permits, the project can be extended to connect the machine learning model to a large language model (LLM), enabling it to explain why a component is failing. Additionally, the model could be enhanced to predict the remaining lifetime of the component.
Who you are
You have a solid understanding of machine learning and AI, and an interest in programming in Python. Ideally, you have already completed projects in anomaly detection and predictive maintenance. Previous experience using large language models is also a plus.
Key qualifications include:
- Master’s student in a data science field
- Proficiency in Python
