Transport is at the core of modern society. Imagine using your expertise to shape sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions for the future. If you seek to make a difference on a global scale, working with next-gen technologies and the sharpest collaborative teams, then we could be a perfect match.

Who We Are

Service Operations & Technology (SOT) is the engine behind customer uptime and service growth in the Volvo Group. Within the Truck Technology & Industrial Division (TTI), we bring together engineering, purchasing, logistics, remanufacturing, and technology into one global end-to-end organization.

With more than 5,000 colleagues across 50+ sites worldwide, we work close to our customers and markets to deliver reliable, high-performance service solutions that keep vehicles and machines running.

We combine technical expertise with a strong performance culture and an outside-in mindset. Together, we move fast, collaborate across brands and functions, and continuously unlock the full potential of the Volvo Group service business.

What you will do

The Volvo Group service market operates within a complex global network of suppliers, distribution centers, and dealers. Disruptions in any part of this network can affect parts availability and customer service. We are therefore strengthening our capabilities to proactively identify and assess supply chain risks, while improving our ability to detect, analyze, and respond to emerging disruptions.

You will investigate how internal and external data, analytical methods, and structured processes can improve supply chain risk identification, assessment, monitoring, and disruption management. The work may include mapping supply chain dependencies and risk exposure, identifying relevant indicators and early warning signals, evaluating their potential operational impact, and exploring how insights can support timely mitigation and response decisions.

The thesis should take a holistic perspective on supply chain risk management, connecting proactive risk monitoring with reactive disruption analysis and organizational learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Examine supply chain risks and disruption-monitoring practices within a global service network.

  • Evaluate how internal and external data, analytical methods, and organizational processes can improve risk identification, assessment, and disruption response.

  • Compile and present research findings and recommendations.

Expected Outcomes:

  • An improved understanding of supply chain risks, disruptions, and resilience within the case company.

  • Practical recommendations for strengthening risk identification, monitoring, mitigation, and response capabilities.

  • A detailed report outlining research, methodologies, findings, and recommendations.
