Transport is at the core of modern society. Imagine using your expertise to shape sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions for the future. If you seek to make a difference on a global scale, working with next-gen technologies and the sharpest collaborative teams, then we could be a perfect match.

What you will do?

Background:

The Vehicle Interface department at Volvo Penta is determined to develop seamless user experiences for our marine and industrial customers.
With the ongoing digitalization of operator environments, more critical information is presented through display solutions. However, touchscreens can be difficult to use in rough, shaky conditions such as at sea or off-road, leading to decreased usability and increased risk of error. We want to explore alternative input methods that could enable safer and more effective interaction with displays in challenging operational settings, aiming to enhance both user experience, efficiency, and safety.

Thesis work objective:

In this thesis the goal is to explore user needs and benchmark competitor solutions to find alternative methods to interact with displays to develop one or several design concepts for the proposed method(s).
