What you will do

Background of thesis project
Volvo Group’s Material Supply department is responsible for developing Logistics processes globally. Our development initiatives span from how we operate with our supply partners, how we transport material to our production facilities, and how effectively we handle our material from goods reception to the part assembled on our truck.
As part of our commitment to digital and effective transport logistics, we are initiating a thesis project to evaluate our current Transport Management System (TMS) with the objective of evaluating effectiveness and recommendations for future development.
Keeping our promises and commitment to our customers, the Transport Management System (TMS) plays a vital role in Volvo Group’s global Inbound logistics. It’s not only about moving parts from one location to another, but it’s also about ensuring reliable, predictable, cost-effective and visible flows to ensure efficient manufacturing of Trucks, engines, batteries or construction equipment vehicles.

Thesis expected outcome
The expected outcome is a comprehensive overview where our current Transport Management System (TMS) is evaluated, benchmarked, and reviewed against industry intelligence.
We are also looking for recommendations and strategic suggestions for Volvo Group on how to strategically develop our Transport Management System (TMS) concept to operate our Inbound Logistics effectively in the future.
