GREAT! Imagine combining your studies with real-world industry experience at Volvo Group. Our Power Up program offers a unique chance to develop your skills, work on cutting-edge transport solutions, and build a network that lasts beyond your studies. Join us in shaping the future of sustainable transport!
Kick off your journey with us during the spring semester of 2026 and continue all the way to graduation in June 2027. For each position a selection is done based on which master program that is prioritized by the home organization. This ensures that your education is relevant to the home organization that you will work together with.
What is in it for you?
This is a unique opportunity to get real life industrial experience alongside with your studies. You will be able to see what the skills you are learning at Chalmers are used for in the Volvo Group. At the same time, you will get valuable insights into our company and the challenges we are facing when it comes to creating sustainable transport solutions on a global scale. You will experience how it is to work with cutting edge technology and customer offers on a global scale together with us at Volvo Group.
The program offers four different parts;
- Educations and study visits
- Mentorship by Volvo team member
- Summer work assignment
- Opportunity to do a Master Thesis
Power Up will provide you with a combination of experiences and insights to Volvo Group, both in a home organization and with the program and fellow Power Up-students. In the home organization you will be able to have summer work and master thesis. You will also have a skilled professional as mentor. As a program we will in the full team of Power Up students have sessions throughout the program to be able to share even more of the wide variety of opportunities and insights at Volvo Group.
Who are we?
The program is run in collaboration between Group Trucks Technology and Group Trucks Operations, two key functions in the Volvo Group for our truck business. The home organizations are spread out in both functions.
At Group Trucks Operations (GTO) we create customer success through sustainable operations. We are responsible for all production of the Volvo Group’s engines and transmissions as well as all production of Volvo, Renault and Mack trucks. We are also responsible for all spare part supplies to the Group’s customers as well as all logistics.
At Group Trucks Technology (GTT) we maximize the output from the Volvo Group R&D investment. We do this by balancing common and brand unique solutions and by mastering both well-known and new technologies. Empowerment, accountability and simplicity are key principles guiding us in our daily work.
Descriptions from some of the home organizations that will participate is described below;
“In Propulsion SW Factory we develop a Software Development Kit together with a complete Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment framework. We are a DevOps team enabling others to deliver SW extremely fast to production.”
“The core machine learning team develops framework for making AI machine learning more accessible for Volvo Group. We also support other teams with adopting the technology in their use cases.”
“The Enterprise Architecture team take the EA responsibility for strategically important digital transformations, platforms and applications within GTO and drive the roadmap accordingly. We are expected to explore new technologies, COTS solutions, Industry 4.0, methods and other emerging concepts by being proactive and innovative.”

The only requirement when you apply is that you have started the first year in a master program at Chalmers. We look forward to receiving your application at the latest by the 7th of December. You can expect to hear back about your application in the middle of January.
