Software Platforms is one of the technology areas within the Vehicle Technology organization at Volvo Group Trucks Technology. The vision for Software Platforms is to provide best in class-embedded base software and technologies for automated integration of application software, including test platforms that enable software-driven transport solutions for the Volvo Group.

 

The core areas of Software Platforms include (but not limited to):

  • Volvo Dynamic Software Platform (Adaptive Autosar, Linux, Hypervisors & BSP) development and maintenance.
  • Volvo Autosar Platform development and maintenance.
  • Integration of application and platform software.
  • Automation of integration and delivery of ECU build.
  • Delivery of integrated MSW and PBL to final integration.
  • Development of test automation framework.

What you will do

As our Product Leader of the operational team, you will be responsible for ensuring the coordinated, timely, and high-quality delivery of one of the most complex central on-board computers in trucks – our centralized high-performance computer hosting several complex applications. You will act as the central anchor aligning cross-functional teams (Hardware, Release, Test & Support) under a unified delivery strategy across various agile teams (Platform and Application). In this role, you will play a key part in delivering a complete software platform fully integrated with hardware, utilizing modern Continuous Integration, and Continuous Delivery chains for application developers across the Volvo Group.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Delivery Oversight: Responsible for the end-to-end operational execution of delivering a fully integrated complex central ECU delivery, which includes planning, tracking execution, and enabling releases.
  • Cross-Team Alignment: Mandate to synchronize and align deliveries from different teams, highlighting dependencies, blockers, and any changes that need to be managed.​
  • Operational Governance: Mandate to enforce ways of working (WoW) such as release readiness, definition of done, branching strategy and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs).​
  • Reporting and Escalation: Authorized to escalate risks, provide delivery status reports to leadership, and make decisions that impact the success of releases.​
  • Contribute and drive topics to resolution as a key member of the Software Platforms management team.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization, including executives, team members, and external partners.

 

You will be part of the Software Platforms leadership team and report to the GTM/Director – Software Platforms.

Requirements:

  • University degree in Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the development and delivery of automotive embedded software.
  • Strong technical background in automotive engineering and software development.
  • Proven ability to lead and coach technical teams.
  • Hands-on experience in automating the full CI/CD chain for developing and releasing embedded software, overseeing the entire delivery pipeline to secure timely releases.
  • Solid understanding of industry trends, market demands, and regulatory requirements related to hardware systems.
  • Experience working in agile ways of working, preferably in a SAFe-inspired set-up.
