Prognostic Engineer

Location:

Göteborg, SE, 417 56

Position Type:  Professional

Transport is at the core of modern society. Imagine using your expertise to shape sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions for the future. If you seek to make a difference on a global scale, working with next-gen technologies and the sharpest collaborative teams, then we could be a perfect match.

What you will do

In this role, you will help develop data-driven prognostics solutions that improve vehicle uptime and support smarter maintenance decisions.

You will work with diagnostic signals, traces, and vehicle data to understand how systems degrade over time, identify trends, and define what should be predicted, for whom, and over what horizon.

You will translate complex technical and operational needs into clear analytical requirements, helping shape solutions that can predict remaining useful life and support more tailored preventive maintenance.

Working closely with data scientists, software developers, component experts, and service engineers, you will help validate outputs, assess business value, and turn insights into practical digital products and service tools for dealers, technicians, fleet managers, and operators.

You will also contribute to how data is structured, stored, and used, making sure the solutions are grounded in engineering reality and can be deployed effectively in a cross-functional product development environment.

Your future team

You will join the Technology & Service Development team (TSD), where the mission is to keep customers’ vehicles on the road by maximizing uptime through smart, data-driven maintenance solutions. In the prognostics space, the team builds end-to-end solutions from signal processing and health modeling to decision support and service integration.

Who are you?

In this role, you will bring a solution-oriented mindset and a genuine interest in failure physics and data science, combined with strong ownership of digital products. You are an applied analytics/engineering professional who combines analytical capability with sound engineering judgment, business awareness and a clear customer focus.

You thrive in cross-functional collaboration and are comfortable navigating uncertainty when degradation is complex and data is incomplete. You build trustful relationships that strengthen both delivery and team culture.

Prognostic Engineer — an engineering and data product role grounded in strong data science understanding, requiring:

  • An MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Vehicle Engineering, or equivalent.

  • 5+ years of experience in engineering or applied analytics role

  • Solid understanding of vehicle systems/technologies, diagnostics, and how system degradations show up in data.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and challenge analytical outputs, you don’t need to build the models, but you need to understand what they’re telling you and when to trust them.

  • Experience working in cross-functional, agile product development environments.

  • Knowledge in OBD/CAN data, ECU log analysis and telematics data architecture.

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with RUL estimation frameworks, survival analysis, or health index approaches.

  • Exposure to cloud or big data platforms (Azure, Databricks) from an engineering perspective.

  • Knowledge of aftermarket service operations, uptime contracts, or maintenance planning workflows.

What’s in it for you?

  • Being part of a mission-driven team focused on maximizing customer uptime through smart maintenance solutions

  • Close collaboration across engineering, data science and software, with strong product ownership and real-world impact

  • Opportunities to grow your expertise at the intersection of vehicle systems, analytics and service planning
