The Vehicle Motion Management (VMM) team is dedicated to pioneering innovative solutions in vehicle motion control, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity for next-generation transport. To be successful in this role, we are looking for a person with the following background/qualification and attributes:
- Technical Knowledge in Software development processes, ASPICE and ISO 26262 standards
- Previous experience at Volvo Technology is a merit
- Driver's license B is mandatory, with C/CE peferred
- Previous experience in software release management is required
- Strong delivery and quality management skills required for:
- Planning, organizing, and coordinating complex work products
- Tracking progress to ensure timely and successful deliverables
- Excellent communication skills needed to:
- Effectively convey status, plans, and updates
- Address concerns or issues as they arise
- Collaboration and leadership skills important for:
- Fostering effective teamwork
- Guiding team members and resolving conflicts
- Driving work products forward
What’s in it for you?
As part of the VMM team, the Quality & Release (Q&R) Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, quality assurance, and execution of software releases for the Vehicle Motion Management (VMM) Agile Release Train (ART). This includes coordinating activities across all product development phases and ensuring that software products are delivered to customers in a timely and efficient manner.
At the ART level, the Q&R Manager supports software development teams, Software Component Owners (SWCOs), and Verification and Validation (V&V) leads in planning software releases. These releases are aligned with all ongoing vehicle programs and product development initiatives. A key responsibility is to define, document, maintain, and communicate the release plan while serving as a central point of contact for various stakeholders. The release plan includes setting release goals, gathering scope, and identifying key milestones. The Q&R Manager must also identify potential bugs, risks, and dependencies that could impact the release—collaborating with relevant teams to mitigate these issues and developing contingency plans when necessary. Ensuring accurate and up-to-date release documentation—including scope, new features, and other relevant information to help users understand changes introduced in each release—is essential.
The role also involves overseeing Product Issue Log (PIL) management for the VMM train and upholding the highest standards of quality and compliance throughout the project lifecycle. Implementing quality assurance processes, proactively managing risks, and driving continuous improvement are critical aspects of the role. Close collaboration with cross-functional teams is necessary to identify potential issues early, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure that all deliverables meet the required quality standards. By leveraging data-driven insights and fostering a culture of excellence, the Q&R Manager plays a pivotal role in the success of the VMM train.
