Your future team 

 

You will join the Data Science team composed of 40+ Data scientists and Machine Learning Engineers.  You will work in an international environment, collaborating with colleagues across disciplines to deliver end-to-end data and AI products used globally. 

You will report to a Chapter Lead Sweden. 

The Machine Learning Engineer position will be located in Gothenburg and we are looking for several profiles in both Sweden and France. All positions are permanent contract in both locations. 

 

What you will do  

 

At Volvo Group Digital Technology & Operations (DTO), you will contribute to the transformation of our company, the transport industry and society at large.  

In this role, you will lead the engineering of production-grade machine learning solutions, from understanding real business needs to industrializing, operating, and continuously improving ML and AI products at scale.  

You will design, build, deploy, and operate ML and AI products with strong engineering practices, including CI/CD, monitoring, and robust model and feature management.  

You will help ensure long-term performance by monitoring drift and partnering with the business to decide when and how to improve pipelines.  


As a tech lead you will take leadership and responsibility of an AI product working with a team of Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, and other data professionals.

Tech: 

  • Deep understanding of statistics, probability and machine learning – with a relevant academic degree in a quantitative field, such as mathematics, statistics, engineering, or physics. 
  • Proven experience managing the full lifecycle of AI and ML software, including, among others, CI/CD, architecture, orchestration, quality assurance, and monitoring.  
  • Ability to manage and industrialize applications based on advanced deep learning techniques and foundational models. 
  • Extensive experience of programming in relevant languages and software management (Git).  
  • Hands-on experience with cloud engineering including infrastructure, data and compute - designing and operating scalable, secure cloud environments for AI products. Experience with microservices architecture and API development is a merit. 
  • Experience of relevant tools (non-exhaustive): 
  • CI/CD e.g. Azure Pipelines, Github Actions 
  • Containerization & orchestration e.g. Docker, Podman, Terraform 
     

Product management: 

  • Previous experience of managing and owning AI products along with industrialization and commercialization in regulated environments. 
    Domain experience of vehicle data, diagnostics, telematics, manufacturing, or warranty analytics would be meriting. 
  • Technical leadership experience, guiding cross-functional teams to design, build, and deliver AI products 

 

Communication and stakeholder management: 

  • Clear communication skills in English and preferably also in the local language, and the ability to collaborate across cultures and time zones.
