Position Type:  Professional

Transport is at the core of modern society. Imagine using your expertise to shape sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions for the future. If you seek to make a difference on a global scale, working with next-gen technologies and the sharpest collaborative teams, then we could be a perfect match.

We are looking for a talented Senior Legal Counsel to support our Supplier Financial Risk and Restructuring team -   —someone who can navigate challenging situations with confidence and bring clarity where it matters most. Are you an experienced restructuring attorney who is motivated by complexity, responsibility, and real business impact? Apply now!

About the Role

You will support the Supplier Financial Risk and Restructuring team. The team plays a critical role in safeguarding Volvo’s operations and financial stability. The team is responsible for monitoring the financial risks in relation to suppliers, assessing the practical implications of those risks, and proactively driving restructuring solutions for distressed suppliers. The aim is to ensure continuity of supply while protecting our financial interests. In parallel, the team responds to financial crisis situations, including restructuring and bankruptcy procedures. You will work in a collaborative manner with financial and business colleagues, and other professionals with broad-based experience in financial risk assessment, restructuring and distressed matters. In this role, you will be part of the TTI Legal & Volvo Group IP function and the Legal Value Chain Functions team, where you have your homebase with collaborative legal colleagues.  In addition, you will work closely with finance and purchasing stakeholders across the organization globally. You will be at the center of complex, high-stakes situations where your legal expertise directly contributes to business continuity and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

You will provide expert legal advice on insolvency, restructuring, and bankruptcy matters, supporting the organization in managing distressed supplier situations and mitigating financial and operational risks. A central part of your work will involve the negotiation of restructuring measures with suppliers, managing internal stakeholders and drafting   agreements designed to facilitate restructuring solutions and strengthen supply chain resilience.

You will also prepare legal analyses of insolvency frameworks and related regulations, translating complex legal considerations into clear and actionable insights for business stakeholders. In addition, you will act as a trusted advisor in supplier-related disputes, offering practical and commercially sound guidance in sensitive situations.

Your role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, where you will contribute to both proactive restructuring initiatives and crisis management. Through your work, you will help ensure that legal considerations are fully integrated into broader business strategies and decision-making processes.

Qualifications and Experience

This role requires a qualified and confident lawyer with 8+ years of legal experience, with a focus on insolvency, restructuring, and financially distressed situations. Solid hands-on experience in negotiating and drafting key agreements is essential.

A proven track record of driving restructuring processes is important, along with the ability to work pragmatically with multiple stakeholders to reach viable and sustainable solutions. The role also calls for sound financial acumen, including familiarity with M&A-related matters, enabling effective contributions at the intersection of legal, financial, and commercial decision-making.

Strong communication skills are critical, with excellent English, both written and spoken. Comfort working in international and cross-functional environments is expected, as well as the ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable business advice.

Experience with litigation—particularly insolvency-related or emergency proceedings—is considered an advantage. Additional desirable qualifications include experience in the automotive sector, familiarity with procurement processes, prior exposure to multinational organizations, and knowledge of other languages.

The ideal candidate brings sound judgement, resilience, and a pragmatic, solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to operate effectively in high-pressure situations where both legal precision and business impact are critical.
