Our team drives the electromobility product portfolio for trucks and buses, supporting all business areas within the Volvo Group. 

Electronics are critical to electric powertrains. Within the Electronics Engineering Function, we manage the full lifecycle of hardware and software components—from early development and product launch to maintenance and updates. Our scope includes Hybrid/Electric Powertrain Control Units, DC/DC converters, Electric Motor Drives, and Battery Management Systems, among other key components. 



About the Role 


As a Senior Software Node Owner, you will work across multiple Electromobility projects, with a focus on platform-based development and software lifecycle management.  

Your key responsibilities include:
 

  • Driving software development and platform alignment across multiple control units, ensuring modular and scalable solutions. 
  • Collaborating across teams to align software functionality, implementation plans, and integration strategies. 
  • Contributing to quality assurance by supporting system analysis, verification strategies, and issue resolution. 
  • Ensuring robust software requirements management, including traceability, documentation, and updates. 
  • Supporting system roadmap development, ensuring software is available, structured, and continuously improved. 



Skills & Competencies 



To be successful in this role, you have a strong technical background in embedded software development, particularly in software platforms, modular architecture, and lifecycle management. Your ability to work across multiple teams ensures high-quality, scalable solutions. 


You also bring:
 

  • MSc in Electronics Engineering, Embedded Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent. 
  • At least 5 years of experience in embedded software development, preferably in automotive applications. 
  • Knowledge of quality assurance processes (e.g., FMEA). 
  • Experience with automotive communication networks (e.g., CAN). 
  • Familiarity with ISO 26262 (Functional Safety) and TARA (Threat Analysis & Risk Assessment). 
  • Understanding of Volvo’s internal development processes (DVP, software release, integration, etc.).
