Our team enables Volvo Group to leverage the wide range of integration capabilities through focused digital products spanning the entire integration stack, including Event Streaming, REST APIs, GraphQL, Messaging, iPaaS, and EDI. We specialize in delivering products, frameworks, tools, and expertise to accelerate the implementation of efficient, scalable integration solutions that drive digital transformation.

The Position

As an Architect in the Event Streaming Stable team, you will serve as a Technical Lead, responsible for shaping the architecture, design, best practices and frameworks for Event Streaming based on Kafka. Event streaming digital product is a critical and most focused product of our API & Integration portfolio. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Digital Product Owner and fellow architects and engineers to drive the product strategy, vision, and roadmap development. 
You should have strong integration expertise and have played a key role in enabling the Event Streaming platform based on Kafka in an enterprise level. Hands-on experience in designing event streaming solutions, building Kafka data pipelines, Configuration of the Kafka Connect, bench marking the platform, securing the platform, creation of reusable patterns etc.
As an Event Streaming Architect, you will define the reference architecture, governance model for event streaming platform usage, and best practices, while also establishing integration architecture guard rails connected to event streaming and guidelines for implementation. You will act as a technical ambassador, driving the event streaming platform adoption across the organization by enabling Volvo Group’s TD/BA/GFs to leverage event streaming effectively for scalable and robust solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

•    Define and drive Event Streaming architecture – Establish the reference architecture, best practices, and architectural guidelines.
•    Establish schema governance and versioning strategy – Define Event Streaming schema best practices and develop an effective versioning strategy.
•    Lead architectural discussions – Guide engineers and architects in designing scalable and efficient event streaming-based integration solutions.
•    Act as an event streaming ambassador – Enable business units to effectively leverage event streaming platform by providing guidance and fostering adoption. Provide event streaming use cases so the adoption is easy.
•    Collaborate with segment architects – Gather requirements, align with architectural directions, and communicate these effectively to the team.
•    Support technical roadmap and planning – Assist the Digital Product Owner (DPO) in defining the technical roadmap and delivery plans, balancing short-term needs with long-term vision.
•    Translate high-level requirements into actionable work items – Clearly define purpose, scope, and expected outcomes for development tasks.
•    Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture principles – Secure adherence to the North Star architecture and ensure compliance with security directives and policies.

 

Technical Skills:

•    Strong experience in integration implementation and architecture
•    Hands-on experience in building an end-to-end integration solutions using event streaming platform with adherence to defined schema practices, should be aware of Kafka.
•    Sound knowledge on the event streaming concepts, best practices, schema usages in the event streaming solutions
•    Good to have MQTT & MQTT Broker understanding and its role in the IoT based integration solutions.
•    Good understanding around how the event streaming platform cost is driven, how to manage the performance of the platform, charge back model to the platform users etc.
•    Proficiency in core Python programming.
•    Sound knowledge around security, isolations, compliance related topics from event streaming platform perspective.
•    Expertise in designing and implementing integration architectures.
•    High level understanding of messaging-based solutions, this will help in providing platform comparison and connect with respective use cases.
•    Familiarity with observability framework like OpenTelemetry and the observability platform like Splunk.
•    High level understanding of API-led integration architecture.
•    Experience working in Agile environments, with a strong understanding of Agile methodologies. Knowledge of SAFe agile methodologies is advantageous.
•    Prior experience as part of a central integration team, enabling integration products and defining processes and methodologies for product adoption.
