Senior UX Designer - Data & AI-Enabled Experiences

Location:

Göteborg, SE, 417 55

Position Type:  Professional

Transport is at the core of modern society. Imagine using your expertise to shape sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions for the future. If you seek to make a difference on a global scale, working with next-gen technologies and the sharpest collaborative teams, then we could be a perfect match.

About the role

Are you interested in being part of building AI powered experience that helps dealers, service technicians, partners, and internal teams streamline internal workflows, reduce resolution time, and improve decision quality?

As a Senior UX Designer, you will work on data-driven workflows within Volvo Penta’s High Value Impact Area (HVIA), focusing on Early Defect Detection and Quality Insights (EDD&QI).

You will collaborate closely with product management, data scientists, data engineers, architects, business analysts, and engineering to translate technical solutions and data outputs into usable, understandable, and trustworthy user experiences.

The role contributes to a more unified view across systems and stakeholders, with responsibility to ensure that learnings, patterns, and insights can be fed back into the wider Volvo Group ecosystem where relevant.

What you will do

  • Review and synthesise existing research and insights, identify gaps, and contribute to targeted research to inform UX priorities and design direction.
  • Work closely with product owners, data scientists, and analysts to align user needs with technical capabilities and data outputs.
  • Design and evolve data-driven user experiences, including dashboards and insight views, ensuring complex data is clear, actionable, and trustworthy.
  • Bridge technical solutions and real-world usage by translating data models, system constraints, and architectural decisions into usable experiences.
  • Contribute UX input within sprint-based development as the technical foundation and roadmap continue to take shape.
  • Create low- to mid-fidelity prototypes to explore and validate ideas, recognising the constraints of a data-heavy and evolving environment.
  • Plan and conduct user testing as the solution matures, focusing on usability, clarity, and decision support.
  • Support the shift toward more data-driven decision making by shaping how insights, signals, and quality indicators are presented and consumed.
  • Communicate design concepts and trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders in a highly visible, cross-functional context.
  • Apply senior, lead-level UX principles to raise design quality and consistency.

What you’ll bring

  • Enterprise UX depth experience designing complex B2B workflows, ideally within service, warranty, claims, or operations, with demonstrable impact.
  • Human-centred AI experience shipping Machine Learning/AI features such as recommendations, scoring, anomaly detection, triage, or case routing, with familiarity in explainability, confidence, uncertainty, and feedback loops.
  • Hands-on experience with generative and evaluative research methods, including stakeholder interviews, contextual inquiry, usability testing, and experiment design.
  • Strong systems thinking with the ability to connect user needs across roles and channels and design for end-to-end lifecycles from creation through review, decision, and learning.
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to frame problems, lead workshops, and explain design trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience using Figma, FigJam or Mural, Jira or Azure DevOps, and analytics tools.
  • Nice to have experience in marine or industrial service contexts, along with knowledge of GDPR, accessibility, and ethical AI principles.

Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Design, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • At least 8 years of experience in UX/UI design.
  • A strong portfolio with relevant case studies that demonstrate your thinking, process, and impact.

Key outcomes in your first 6–12 months

  • Foundational journey maps and service blueprints established for key warranty stakeholders, including dealers, technicians, and internal reviewers.
  • Clear patterns for presenting insights, confidence, rationale, and exceptions documented and adopted by the product team.
  • Validated prototypes for priority warranty flows (e.g. claim submission, eligibility checks, decision review), demonstrating measurable improvements in time to resolution and user understanding.
  • Design metrics and feedback loops in place, ensuring continuous insights inform product and data evolution.
