What do we do                                                                                
At the ESE (Energy Storage Engineering), section we are responsible for the complete battery solution. We are accountable for the lifecycle management of the ESS, from advanced engineering, throughout product development into the maintenance phase. In Electrical Distribution System group, we are looking for a Specialist Electrical Design Engineer that can join our team.

What will you do

In this role, you will serve as a pivotal member of our product development team. You will be tasked with designing and integrating cutting-edge energy storage solutions that utilize the advanced capabilities of Volvo Group batteries. Your expertise and strategic partnerships will be essential in establishing the engineering foundation necessary to bring the vision for our battery energy storage systems to fruition. As part of this position, you will lead the breakdown of requirements for the dimensioning of the Energy Distribution System (EDS) and wiring systems across all our battery projects. You will also engage in design and validation processes. Our development approach emphasizes collaboration, so you will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that we effectively monitor supplier deliveries to guarantee the high-quality products our customers expect and deserve.

As a person you are a team player and a problem solver, you drive for results and have no problem in dividing problems into chunks that can be grasped by you or your teammates. You are quick to pick up technical details, structured and have a good sense for planning your individual work. You are curious by nature and probably like to tinker with technology.

To succeed in the role as Specialist Electrical Design Engineer we believe that you have the following background:
•    Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering. 
•    Minimum 8 years of experience with Electrical Design.
•    Minimum 2 years of experience with battery development.
•    Experience of designing and dimensioning of wiring, cabling and bus bars in high voltage and low voltage applications.
•    Design tailored electrical schematics.
•    Deep knowledge in tools for harness design like Saber.
•    Create and review electrical equipment specifications and data sheets. 
•    Conduct feasibility studies evaluations.
•    Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices for energy storage systems, such as functional safety standards.
•    Extensive experience from automotive wiring design and in collaboration with Automotive suppliers.
•    Knowledge & Experience in using standard engineering methods like for instance FMEA.

Meritorious:
•    Experience in Electromobility area at other manufacturers.
•    Good Knowledge in Wiring, Busbars and/or connectors within Volvo AB.
