What you will do
At Volvo Penta Electric Motion & Energy System, you will contribute to the transformation of our company, the transport industry and society at large.
We are seeking a highly skilled High‑Voltage Battery Expert to join our team and help shape the next generation of electrified power solutions. In this role, you will drive technical leadership across battery architecture, cell technology selection, thermal management, safety concepts, and system integration. You will work hands‑on with cutting‑edge chemistries, energy and power‑dense pack designs, control strategies, and compliance for demanding real‑world applications. Required Skills & Knowledge
• Good understanding of cell chemistry, aging mechanisms, and battery behavior.
• Expertise in battery pack system design, HV architecture, insulation coordination, contactors, fuses, and protective circuits.
• Knowledge of thermal management technologies and cooling system integration.
• Strong understanding of system architecture, safety functions, diagnostics, and software‑hardware interactions.
• Solid grounding in electrochemistry, electrical engineering, and HV safety principles.
Experience You Bring
• Several years of hands‑on experience in battery system development for automotive, industrial, or Marine applications.
• Experience across the full battery development cycle, from early concepts to industrialization and validation.
• Familiarity with abuse testing, environmental validation, and global certification requirements.
• Experience working with OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, or cell manufacturers.
• Proven ability to conduct root-cause analysis, interpret test data, and solve complex system-level problems.
• Practical experience working safely with high-voltage systems and lab environments.
