What do we do                                                                                           
At the ESE (Energy Storage Engineering) section we are responsible for the complete battery solution. We are accountable for the lifecycle management of the ESS, from advanced engineering, throughout product development into the maintenance phase. In Electrical Distribution System group, we are looking for a Specialist Electrical Distribution System Engineer that can join our team.

 

What will you do

As Specialist EDS (Electrical Distribution System) engineer, you will define and develop the electrical distribution system within ESE (Energy Storage Engineering).

 

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assuring mechanical and electrical integration of EDS components from concept to maintenance.
• Ensuring component (wire, cable, busbar, connector, terminal, etc) selection based on needed requirements and following applicable standards and guidelines.
• Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure high-quality delivery.
• Being the first line reviewer of the engineering work delivered by the team. 
• Following up on builds and validation activities (supplier visit might be required).
• Creating virtual harness models and corresponding 2D/3D drawings.
• Collaborating as a dynamic team to innovate and stay ahead in the industry.

To succeed in this role, we believe that you have the following background:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of experience working with EDS within automotive industry.
• Minimum 2 years of experience with battery development.
• Experience in advanced engineering and concept designs of integration of electrical systems of battery packs
• Extensive experience in automotive EDS systems design (low voltage and high voltage) in collaboration with Automotive suppliers including handling sourcing scenarios.
• Good understanding of manufacturing around wire harness.
• Strong experience in risk analysis, root cause analysis, DFMEA, DFA, DFS, DFM etc.
• Exhibit excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a focus on driving continuous improvements within the team.
• Skilled in project management, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality technical results through effective tracking and reporting.


Meritorious to have:
• Experience in the Electromobility area at other manufacturers
• Knowledge of Volvo GTT and related tools/processes, e.g. system weaver, CREO etc
•  An already established network within Volvo AB
