Thesis: Architecture, Reliability and Cost Analysis for a Multi-Voltage input/output battery system

What you will do
At Volvo Penta you will contribute to the transformation of our company, the transport industry and society at large. You will:
The thesis objective is to investigate the suitability of battery system with multi voltage input/output capability for integration in Volvo Penta electrical and propulsion system architectures and analyze the potential benefits and disadvantages of such solution. The scope should include removal of individual components such as On-board charger, DC/AC motor inverter, DC/DCs
Activities:
- Investigate and define requirements for voltage levels (and other potentially relevant requirements) in Volvo Penta architecture
- Study and identify potential designs for achieving required multi voltage input/output from battery (New designs could be proposed but is not necessarily expected)
- Perform cost analysis of existing design vs integrated design for Volvo Penta architecture
- Perform aftermarket service analysis (reliability, cost of repair) for integrated solution vs existing design
Your future team
You will primarily work together with battery system engineering team at Volvo Penta electromobility department, however, we expect that you will have a lot of cross functional interactions during your work here.
Who are you?

- Experience from relevant studies in manufacturing engineering, industrial design, product development, electromechanical engineering or similar
- Potential previous experience with electromobility, battery system design or manufacturing
- Fluent English and optionally Swedish could be beneficial
- Ability to work at Volvo Penta office in Gothenburg 2-3 days per week
- High level of personal drive and enthusiasm to problem solve
