What you will do

Volvo Group is accelerating the development of modern marketing and communication capabilities across our multiple business areas. As part of this effort, the Digital Marketing Centre of Excellence within Group Communication supports the organisation with research, frameworks and innovative practices that strengthen data-driven decision making and future-ready communication models.

We are now inviting motivated master’s students (30 ECTS) to conduct thesis work that explores critical questions shaping the future of marketing, data, AI and digital communication. Your research will contribute valuable knowledge to the Group Communication function and provide real insights that may inform future strategy and development.

Your thesis should explore one of the areas below. Each topic focus supports a real organisational need inside Volvo Group.

  1. Marketing Data : Models for marketing data governance in federated organisations.
  2. Artificial Intelligence : How AI influences productivity gains in global marketing and communication functions.
  3. Gaming : How gaming communities can be engaged to position Volvo Group as an attractive employer for software developers.
  4. Social Media : How the new social media landscape can be used to engage B2B audiences for global enterprise communication.
  5. Search Marketing : How changes in consumer search behaviour are influencing large international enterprises.
  6. Digital Asset Management : Governance models for Digital Asset Management in federated global organisations.
  7. Web: The role of websites in omni-channel marketing compared to strategic corporate communication. 


Your proposal should be 500 to 1000 words, including sources. It must outline the project scope, research objectives, methodology and expected practical outcomes.

Who are you?

You are a master’s student in marketing, management, communication, digital business, information systems or a related field. You have a strong interest in digital transformation and want your thesis to be based in a real organisational environment. You are structured, curious and comfortable working with both qualitative and quantitative material. Experience with data, digital platforms or communication strategy is valuable but not required.

You may apply as an individual or as a pair.
