Volvo Financial Services is seeking a Vice President, Tax to lead the VFS tax function and serve as its senior tax executive. Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a high-impact leadership role with the opportunity to shape how VFS executes the Volvo Group Tax Strategy, strengthens global tax compliance, and shapes a future-ready tax function within a global, highly regulated environment.
What you will do
As Vice President, Tax, you will be a strategic partner to the CFO and senior leadership team, ensuring tax supports business growth while upholding strong governance, compliance, risk management, and operational efficiency across VFS globally. Working in close alignment with the Volvo Group Tax Function, you will ensure that VFS tax activities are executed consistently with Group Tax strategy, policies, and requirements, while bringing VFS business insight and priorities into the Group Tax interface. You will lead and develop a specialist team, while providing matrix leadership across regional and functional stakeholders engaged in the VFS tax agenda.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the VFS tax function and operating model globally, ensuring effective execution of Volvo Group Tax Strategy within the VFS business context.
- Ensuring global tax compliance across VFS, including compliance governance, process efficiency, tax reporting, internal controls, and the relevant policies, instructions, and guidelines.
- Driving continuous improvement and compliance efficiency through standardized processes, clear accountabilities, automation, and strong control frameworks.
- Leading global tax risk management for VFS, including risk assessments, mitigation actions, and oversight of internal and external tax audits, in close alignment with Group Tax.
- Advising the CFO and senior stakeholders on strategic transactions, business model changes, restructurings, and international tax developments, ensuring appropriate Group Tax engagement on tax strategy, planning, and governance matters.
- Supporting tax efficiency, optimization, and transformation initiatives within the framework and direction set by Group Tax, balancing business needs, compliance requirements, and sustainable value creation.
- Leading VFS tax matters related to transfer pricing, Pillar 2, and other evolving regulatory requirements, in coordination with Group Tax and relevant stakeholders.
- Advancing tax technology and automation to streamline processes and strengthen reporting, compliance, and efficiency in line with Volvo Group Tax Strategy.
- Serving as the primary VFS interface with the Volvo Group Tax Function, external advisors, and tax authorities, ensuring effective collaboration, escalation, and alignment.
- Leading, coaching, and developing the team while aligning regional and cross-functional stakeholders behind a consistent global tax agenda.
Your future team
You will report directly to the CFO of Volvo Financial Services and lead a small specialist tax team. In this role, you will work closely with senior leaders across Finance, Legal, Treasury, Accounting, Business Control, Digital & IT, regional organizations, and the Volvo Group Tax Function, with broad enterprise exposure and the opportunity to strengthen the global tax agenda, compliance framework, and operating effectiveness of a global financial services business within the Volvo Group. The position is based in Gothenburg, Sweden.

You are a seasoned tax leader with strong technical credibility, sound strategic judgment, and the ability to influence at executive level. You combine deep tax expertise with commercial acumen, operate effectively in complex global environments, and bring the leadership presence to shape a function, build trust, and lead change. You are equally effective in direct leadership and matrix settings, with the ability to align diverse stakeholders across regions and functions, behind a common tax agenda.
Qualifications
- Advanced academic background in Tax, Accounting, Finance, Law, or a related discipline; an advanced tax qualification is preferred.
- Significant senior tax leadership experience in a multinational, financial services, or leading advisory environment.
- Broad expertise across international tax, corporate income tax, indirect tax, transfer pricing, tax accounting, and governance.
- Strong track record of advising senior executives and leading complex tax matters in regulated global businesses.
- Experience in tax transformation, regulatory implementation, and the use of technology to strengthen compliance and control.
- High integrity, sound judgment, and strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
