Your future team
Transmission Simulation and System Design is a group with 16 engineers, within the department Driveline, Powertrain Technology. The Swedish organization has the full worldwide product platform responsibility for Heavy Duty Powertrains, and of the installation in European Volvo products. We participate in all stages of the product cycle – from advanced engineering to industrial development and maintenance.
Our group is responsible for transmission analyses within many different areas: FEA (Finite Element Analysis), 1D flow, 1D mechanical, CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics), as well as system layout and gear design. We perform simulations to optimize durability, weight, efficiency and noise/vibration to support our HW design teams and in order to bring our customers world-class products.
How you'll contribute
As a Simulation Engineer for Gear Technology, you will design and evaluate gear concepts for our word-class conventional transmissions and electrified power units.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Gear Design and Analysis: Optimize gear- and spline designs at macro and micro level to meet internal and external performance and durability requirements. Perform advanced simulations and correlate the results with physical tests.
- Manufacturing and production: Close contact with prototype manufacturing and serial production, understand the value of different materials and process technologies.
- Stakeholder Management: Present and explain status, challenges, and results to stakeholders (such as design engineers and project leaders) and senior management.
- Documentation: Document the design solution, simulation results and requirements in Engineering Reports (ER) and Technical Requirements (TR).
- Method development: Contribute to method and tool development, virtual and physical verification.
The scope and complexity will evolve together with your work experience.
