What You Will Be Doing

This Commodity Buyer is accountable for the Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Features (QDCF) of suppliers within their owned commodity segment. You will be responsible for making sure that the segment business plan is implemented through the selection of the right suppliers, and by continuously securing supplier QDCF performance by using the tools and purchasing/cross-functional network during production and after production for Revenue segments.

 

You will be based out of our Greensboro, NC headquarter location and will report to the Head of Extended Parts Offering Purchasing North America.

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Develop, negotiate, and implement strategies resulting in improved supply chain performance, enhanced product quality, innovative technology, and maximum value
  • Drive negotiations and executive agreements with suppliers within your commodity segment
  • Contribute to segment business plan & be an active member in the global network of Buyers
  • Collaborate with other members of the global supply chain to successfully develop and execute global supply chain and technology strategies
  • Use Volvo Performance System (VPS) toolbox to drive efficiency across the supply chain
  • Drive all relevant activities to deliver on Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Features targets (QDCF)
  • Monitor, identify, and mitigate risks in cooperation with the Supply Network Quality (SNQ) team
  • Forecast cost evolution for scope of responsibility
  • Manage and negotiate product/processes changes
  • Perform daily purchasing activities related to aftermarket orders, logistics, and financial flows to the suppliers

Your insights into negotiation, finance, and supplier management could provide a strong foundation for success in this Commodity Buyer role.

 

  • Either 3+ years of strategic purchasing (e.g. end-to-end supplier relationship management, sourcing, negotiations, contracts), business development (client relationship management, negotiations, etc.), or related internal experience referenced above
  • Experience within the manufacturing industry
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Strong business acumen, agile in way of working
  • Desire to work in a collaborative team towards a common purpose
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business or related field (or equivalent working experience)
  • To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States, and should not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status

At the Volvo Group, we strive for a clear, transparent, and straightforward compensation approach, motivating you to contribute to the company’s growth. For this position, the base pay is set at $72,600- $89,700 annually, and where applicable, bonus eligible.  The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
