What you will do

About the Role 

The Compensation & Benefits Manager plays a key role in shaping and delivering a competitive, compliant, and data-driven Total Rewards strategy. This role supports the US People & Culture function by ensuring competitiveness, governance, and administration of all Total Rewards’ compensation and benefits programs. 

 

Blending strategic insight with hands-on execution, this role is responsible for compensation design, benefits administration, and continuous improvement of Total Rewards programs, ensuring alignment with business goals, internal equity, and market competitiveness. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Total Rewards Strategy & Governance
  • Support the development and execution of Total Rewards strategies, frameworks, policies, and programs
  • Ensure alignment with global rewards philosophy and local market practices
  • Maintain governance, compliance, and documentation across all compensation and benefits programs
  • Evaluate effectiveness of Total Rewards initiatives and recommend enhancements
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations (FLSA, ACA, ERISA, COBRA, and multi-jurisdictional requirements) 

  

Compensation Management 

  • Administer and evolve salary structures, job architecture, and internal equity guidelines
  • Partner in job evaluation and alignment with global job catalogues, including job creation and leveling
  • Conduct market pricing, benchmarking, and survey participation
  • Perform compensation analysis (compa-ratio, range penetration, pay equity reviews)
  • Lead/support annual compensation planning cycles (merit, promotions, incentives)
  • Ensure compensation data integrity within HRIS and reporting tools
  • Support executive and incentive compensation analysis as needed  

 

Benefits Administration & Vendor Management 

  • Oversee administration of health, welfare, and retirement plans in partnership with Director of Total Rewards
  • Manage open enrollment planning, system testing, and employee communications
  • Analyze participation, utilization, and cost trends to inform decisions
  • Partner with vendors to resolve issues and enhance service delivery
  • Support program development (e.g., wellness initiatives, onsite services)  
  • Manage eligibility, audits, and benefits-related financial reconciliation 

 

Analytics, Reporting & Insights 

  • Partner with Senior Manager Compensation, Analytics & Reporting to maintain reporting on compensation, benefits, and workforce trends  
  • Respond to ad hoc data requests with clear, actionable recommendations
  • Conduct regular market and competitive analysis to ensure offerings remain competitive  

 

Collaboration & Communication 

  • Partner cross-functionally across People & Culture, Finance, Payroll, and business leaders in a matrixed environment
  • Develop and deliver clear, engaging Total Rewards communications to employees
  • Translate complex topics into practical insights for stakeholders
  • Promote transparency and employee understanding of Total Rewards programs  

 

Continuous Improvement & Systems Optimization 

  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, data quality, and employee experience
  • Support HRIS configuration, enhancements, and data accuracy
  • Maintain tools, reporting platforms, and internal resources (e.g., SharePoint)  

Who are you?

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in compensation, benefits, or total rewards
  • Experience working in a global, matrixed organization strongly preferred  
  • Experience with compensation design, pay structures, and benefits programs
  • Professional certifications (CCP, CEBS) preferred

At the Volvo Group, we strive for a clear, transparent, and straightforward compensation approach, motivating you to contribute to the company’s growth. For this position, the base pay is set at $111,100 - $137,200  annually, and where applicable, bonus eligible.  The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
