What you will do

As Group Manager for Chassis Components, you will lead a team of highly skilled and passionate engineers responsible for the development and installation of a wide array of Pneumatic components and systems in our vehicles. You will take full product ownership and lead the product development activities, from strategies to maintenance, for the complete pneumatic circuit including air tanks, fittings, valves, manifolds, tubes routing & clipping, brake hoses, and trailer connection. The team is also in charge of the packaging of the electrical components mounted on the chassis, as well as all the multi-media brackets. The team will complete virtual simulation and physical verifications of the circuit (e.g., brake timing test) and perform troubleshooting of physical builds when required.

 

As Engineering Group Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading, coaching, and developing a team of highly skilled Engineers
  • Directing work in your team, providing direction, and removing obstacles to get work done
  • Supporting your team in technical discussions to make the right technical choices
  • Taking the product ownership for components and systems in your scope and leading the execution of roadmaps
  • Managing budget and resources, developing competence, and recruiting new talents to meet current and future needs
  • Leading continuous improvement activities (process, tools, methods) and fostering innovation
  • Managing interfaces towards other functions to support project deliveries and make daily operation more efficient
  • Delivering project activities on time and according to budget.

 

In this position, you will report to the Section Manager for Vehicle Dynamics Engineering in Greensboro and take an active part in the leadership team to contribute to the overall development of the department.

Our team, Chassis & Vehicle Dynamics Engineering, develops and maintains components, systems, and complete chassis solutions for diesel, electric and autonomous vehicles for Volvo Trucks and Mack Trucks in the North American market. Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic engineering, or related field. Master’s Degree is preferred. 
  • 8-12+ years of experience in Product Development within the automotive or a related industry.
  • Experience with suspension systems, braking systems, and/or pneumatic tools and equipment would be an advantage. 
  • Leadership experience as a manager with direct reports.
  • Experience in Project management of large projects, specifically in an agile environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of the market and applications.
