What you will do

As an Engineering Manager – Vehicle Features, you will play an essential role in driving Volvo Group’s strategic innovation! You will lead a team of highly skilled and passionate Feature Engineers to ensure that all Volvo and Mack Trucks exceeds customer expectations. This will include collaborating with PMO, Engineering, Brands, etc. to compile “voice of customer” expectations (via requirements, PDP, FMEA), manage scheduling of Feature Reviews, coordinate & support Feature Ride & Drive Clinics, and benchmarking competitors to ensure that customer expectations are met or exceeded
As an Engineering Manager your responsibilities will include:
- Lead the Vehicle Features Team and collaborate with all other engineering departments and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Provide leadership and guidance to Feature Engineers both within the Vehicle Features team and in other teams.
- Ensure the team has a strong customer focused mind-set and takes product ownership for respective vehicle features.
- Contribute to strategic decision-making as a member of the CV – Product and IB Management leadership team.
- Leading continuous improvement activities to always improve our way of working.
- Drive digitalization feature strategy and integrate into the digital & simulation roadmaps.
- Plan and execute Competitor Vehicle Analysis (CVA).
- Manage Vehicle Features PDP – Product Delivery Plan.
- Manage Vehicle Feature risk analysis.
- Support Feature deliveries by:
- Plan and execute Feature Roadmaps aligned with Product Owners/Engineering, Product Planning, Brands, etc.
- Ensure feature development targets are clearly defined, aligned with program objectives, and achievable within project constraints.
In this position, you will report to the Director of Product & IB Management in Greensboro and take an active part in the leadership team to contribute to the overall development of the department.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
- 10+ years engineering experience in Product Development within the automotive industry
- Leadership experience as a manager with direct reports is preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of customer expectations to achieve a quality product.
- Previous experience with the usage of quality tools
- Ability to build effective teams, maximizing each person’s contribution to achieve common goals
- Effective communicator, able to provide a clear message and use compelling arguments to gain commitment
- Can do-attitude and resilient, rebounding from setbacks and adversity when facing difficult situations
- Accountable, well organized, analytical, business-focused, and holistic mind-set
- Proven ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams, manage complex projects, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to travel to various locations, both domestically and internationally (up to 15%)
Preferred Education / Experience
- Advanced degree
- CDL (commercial driver's license) - Class A
- Strong technical knowledge and understanding of the heavy-duty truck market and applications
